This role is a developer/data engineer role in the Product Control IT team within the Risk & Finance IT space. It is a diverse team of IT professionals with major footprints in London, New York, Singapore, Raleigh, Poland and Pune. We deliver sophisticated software solutions to Product Control using enterprise technologies. Product Control IT supports a diverse range of applications and technologies to support the entities and products processed by the business. These applications support Product Control P&L validation and related controls.
The person should develop a good understanding of the relevant CS applications, architecture, strategies and processes and work in collaboration with staff in the other locations and local vendor teams. The role has delivery responsibility, providing strong leadership to the vendor teams, and providing level-3 support to the business. The role will require building functional and technical knowledge within the application portfolio with the objective of becoming a SME.
The main responsibilities are:
  • Take ownership of deliverables assigned, ensure they are delivered within project timelines, providing regular status updates to management
  • Review requirements, prepare/contribute to design decisions and testing strategy
  • Participate in designing and coding technical solutions
  • Perform design and code reviews
  • Perform project/delivery leading roles which includes:
  • Collaborate with overall Development manager, BA's and PM's
  • Management book of work, assigning tasks to the vendor team
  • Coordinate and lead the integration and UAT phases; ensure resolution of any issues / defects
  • Management of production releases
  • You will coordinate and resolve L3 issues & escalations
  • You will mentor team members
  • Engage and coordinate with our vendor partners to drive the quality of our delivery by using process standardization and best practices
  • Support our vendor partner in improving quality, growing efficiency and improve L3 production support
  • Contribute to the strategic technical direction of the team. Seek opportunities to introduce new innovative technologies to maintain competitive advantage.
  • Act as a SME for application


You Offer
  • You hold a University degree level (preferably in IT) along with a 6-10 years of experience in analysis, design and development of applications in financial services industry
  • Prior experience and basic understanding of Finance and Investment Banking preferred
At least 5+ Years of experience as a developer and Technical Lead across technologies outside Big Data and 2 years of hands-on working experience in Big Data Technologies/Tools such as:
  • HDFS, Impala, Hive, HBase, Spark, Sqoop
  • Languages - Scala , Java & R
  • Data Analytics Modeling Techniques and working experience with H2O
  • Visualization toolsets - Tableau, Qlik Sense.
  • Architecture of Cloudera, Yarn, Gateway / Datanode / Namenode servers
  • You have strong knowledge in Unix Commands/Shell scripting
  • Experience with integration of data from multiple data sources
  • You have prepared documentation for design and implementation and performed design and code review for the team members
  • You possess strong organizational and communication skills as well as problem solving skills
  • Ability to perform Multi-Tasking
  • Knowledge of NoSQL databases, such as Cassandra, MongoDB
  • Knowledge of various ETL techniques and frameworks, such as Flume
  • Exposure to SDLC tools, such as: JIRA, Confluence, SVN, TeamCity, Crucible, Service-Now
  • Exposure to L3 application support - analyze and resolve issues
  • Ability to understand complex business/functional requirements and translate to technical requirements
  • Good interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a distributed team
  • Occasional work outside of normal business hours would be required to collaborate with BAs and other team members in other CS offices and to support production releases.
  • You are confident and inventive and have the willingness to learn
  • Agile Certified and working experience in Agile/Scrum Projects (preferred)
  • Working experience in onshore/offshore or outsourced models (preferred)
  • You are ambitious, dedicated and hardworking and also have the ability to multitask and prioritize matters effectively
  • High level of integrity, sense of urgency, attention to detail and quality standards
