DvSZ Operation is a DvSZ specific function that provides expert troubleshooting services on Batch issues to application development teams. This is accomplished by a dedicated team maintaining life cycle management of data and ensuring successful application execution via Batch EDP processing
This role is responsible for monitoring, controlling and operating complex applications and technical batch processing on mainframe system, as well as on distributed systems. They are also responsible for analyzing first level incidents for all batches (according to the service agreements), resolving and/or routing as appropriate, supporting the Service Management Processes specific to their client requirements
  • Monitor for, correct, raise batch related issues
  • Oversee and modify schedules for special requests and follow the Customer priorities
  • Respond expeditiously to requests for priority job execution
  • Notify the Customer if special requests will affect the timely completion of other work and provide schedule status updates
  • Follow JCL standards in supporting creation and testing of JCL
  • Invoke resolution and restart procedures in case of failures in the batch jobs
  • Check control totals and condition codes to monitor proper application executions as defined by the Customer
  • Monitor scheduled batch jobs and batch cycles, resolving any non-application scheduling conflicts
  • Execute re-runs as requested by the Customer and restart jobs according to operation procedures and documentation. Resolve abnormal terminations when appropriate
  • Follow the job run documentation and notify the Customer as appropriate and defined by the run documentation
  • Create incident reports for job abnormalities consistent with the Incident Management Process. Produce daily and monthly metrics on batch job executions, abend rates, etc.
  • Checking all the queues and ensure the batch completion
  • Ensures adherence against operational tools & process compliance
  • Data backed recommendations for service scalability, capacity and performance improvement
  • Ensures that their process and working practices are effective and efficient
  • Is involved in process automation decisions for their respective batch processes
  • Participation in Disaster/Recovery test on request

  • 3 - 5-years' experience in IBM Mainframe MVS environment
  • 3 - 5 years' experience in DB2, IMS DB, IMS DC, MQ, REXX, VSAM, CICS, CORBA
  • 3 - 5 years' experience in BMC tools (e.g. Control/M, Beta92)
  • 2 - 4 years' experience in Programming languages as PL/1, COBOL
  • Knowledge on JCL and TSO commands
  • Reporting, data analytics and interpretation experience required
  • Good communication and conversation skills (Verbal and Written)
  • Good documentation skills along with good working knowledge of MS Office
  • Should have a good customer handling skills
