Job Description

US Investment Accounting (US IA) is a "time" and "mission" critical process, and NAVs are released on a daily basis. Also, Non-Prop pricing is an integral part of the process.
This role works towards validating mutual fund NAVs on a daily basis. This role entails preparation of daily accounting and reconciliation, managing exceptions related to the outstanding items. These exceptions could pertain to cash and holding for all kind of CTI funds, viz. retail, life FOF, collective etc. and includes reporting activities.
Perform prudent accounting by virtue of daily research and clearance of exceptions, which include (but not limited to) trading issues, income variances, corporate actions, client activity, and derivatives.
Review and resolve problems for the assigned funds and communicate with various internal and external departments.

Responsibilities

The primary purpose of this position is to perform daily investment accounting activities relating to the retails, life (sub-accounts), 529, FOF and collective trust funds and ensure the accurate calculation and reporting of NAVs, AUV's .The role also requires collaboration with the Accounting counterparts based in India/ US and Custodians, Business Partners from other departments/ locations.
Responsible for the accurate calculation and reporting of public and collective fund net asset values and life fund accumulation unit values. Provide coverage as needed. It also requires a basic understanding of the mutual fund concepts and specific fund characteristics/attributes.
Perform the daily accounting and reconciliation of fund activity including shareholder activity, fund expenses, fund distributions, reconciling the NAV/AUV, reviewing security trades including derivatives and reconciling cash transactions.
Analytical review and problem solving for the fund. Verify accuracy of trade input and impacts to fund. Analyze daily income accruals and interest/ dividend payments. Review fund distributions. Communicate with transfer agents, custodians' other departments and auditors, as needed.
Ensure all identified issues are thoroughly researched and escalated/communicated timely to all impacted parties.
Prepare monthly reports and follow balancing procedures on custodian reconciliations, fixed expense analysis and statement reconciliations.
Being a LEAN enabled team, it's imperative to support in the standardization and come out with continuous improvement initiatives.
Support all DOL changes and other requisite changes.
Zero regulatory and control issues having significant brand, financial or business implications.
Proactively contribute and attend huddles, team meetings, trainings, engagement activities and coaching sessions

Required Qualifications

Post graduate (preferably MBA) in Finance and/or related field of knowledge.
1 to 3 years of work experience; relevant/ similar experience would be an advantage.
Knowledge in Accounting and Capital market/investment products.
Strong system skills viz. MS Office and main frame system.
Good Communication, Interpersonal Skills and be an Effective Team Player.
Excellent Problem Solving and Analytical Skills.
Sound Written / Oral Communication Skills.

Positive, team-work attitude.
Ability to work independently as well as collaborate with cross-functional teams.
Knowledge of / experience in investment accounting / fund accounting, would be preferred.
Knowledge of investment tools (Bloomberg), reconciliation tools (Frontier), and accounting systems (Invest One) will be an added advantage.
