About this role

The Alternatives Digital Strategy team within BlackRock Alternative Investors (BAI) is responsible for delivering scale for the next stage of growth within BAI by developing the market standard for alternatives technology.

Our team's objective is to offer BAI investment professionals the best technology and analytical solutions to help them better understand and manage their alternative investment portfolios. BlackRock has acquired the eFront business to accelerate our alternatives technology capabilities, given the significant growth of alternative investments in our clients' portfolios. Our team is implementing eFront for our BAI investment teams and thus works with our colleagues in BlackRock Solutions and the Aladdin Product Group to continually enhance functionality by designing and implementing future technology roadmaps for the eFront product suite and BAI franchise.

The Digital Strategy team is currently seeking an Analyst/Associate Full Stack Engineer to design and build the best of Private Markets technology solutions.

You will be working with a diverse team of software engineers, product managers and various stakeholders to produce high-quality web tools and services for the BlackRock Alternatives business unit across the globe. Responsibilities

  • Designing, coding, testing, and supporting reliable, robust software applications and services with high-quality standards using Java, JavaScript, Spring, Angular/React and HTML5, among other tools

  • Understand and refine business and functional requirements and convert them into scalable technical design

  • Build intuitive user interfaces with a focus on providing the best user experience

  • Collaborate with team members in a multi-office, multi-country environment.

  • Participate actively in multi-functional feature requirements gathering, design, and implementation

  • Apply proven quality software engineering practices through all phases of development



Desired Skills

  • Ability to work across full stack, building highly scalable distributed applications that enable positive user experiences and measurable business growth

  • Experience using modern Javascript web technologies, libraries/frameworks (eg. Angular, React-RxJS), HTML5, CSS/Sass/Less

  • Experience using Spring Boot, Java, Maven, or similar backend frameworks (.NET, Python)

  • Robust object-oriented design pattern knowledge with in-depth knowledge of common APIs and data structures like Collections, Maps, lists, Sets etc

  • Functional programming experience in JavaScript, including concepts like asynchronous programming, closures, types, and ES6

  • Knowledge of database systems and SQL. NoSQL database experience is a plus (Cassandra, Solr/ElasticSearch, etc)

  • Experience with API Design using Rest / Soap & OAuth 2.0

  • Experience with Agile development concepts and related tools

  • Experience with dev ops tools like Git, Maven, Jenkins

  • Experience using cloud technologies is a plus (Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD, Serverless)

  • Experience in data visualization tools and techniques is a plus


Q ualifications

  • BE/B.Tech in Computer Science or related technical field, or equivalent experience

  • 2-7 years of professional software development experience
