Infrastructure Automation Engineer – Systems Engineering

Location: Gurgaon, Haryana, India

Role/Responsibilities :
This is a challenging position within the Engineering team of Infrastructure Services, a group within Moody's Information Technology. Reporting up to Moody's Chief Information Officer, Infrastructure Services leads all aspects of the company's global engineering, service management, network, branch office delivery, end user services and delivery of hosting, environment management and production support services. We support over 200 bespoke applications operating from 3 key private cloud data centers along with public cloud facilities. Infrastructure has invested significantly in ITIL-based service management, best practice information security, software and hardware to enable Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) and Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) cloud-based architectures.

The candidate must be very motivated and willing to take on challenges, learn new concepts and be willing to multi-task to succeed. This role will report to the Automation Lead for IaaS within the Infrastructure Services organization working with a team of engineers and consultants. This candidate is expected to lead the way with automation development best practices and work diligently to educate and mentor other staff members about modern dev practices. This position will be critical in helping to build the automation dev skill sets and discipline across traditional infrastructure personnel. The candidate must have experience fostering a DevOps and DevSecOps culture and everything that comes along with it. The candidate will work with the Automation Lead and take initiative to champion our culture improvements, automation discipline, and skill set education program. As a result, the candidate must also have a passion for teaching and mentoring other professionals.

Primary Responsibilities

Partners with infrastructure teams across IaaS and the rest of Central IT to align with automation goals and standard tooling and to evangelize current automation dev best practices
Collaborates with Security team to ensure system configurations are in compliance with security policies and controls standards
Designs and develops security automation to perform actions such as service hardening and credential rotations in supporting our central Security team's goals
Create technology efficiency and new capabilities through the use of automation
Ability to deal with ambiguity and drive clarity and actions
Intuitively and instinctively takes ownership over taskings being handed down
Ability to summarize complex technical and business issues to the appropriate audience
Ability to work with a variety of development environments and platforms
Ability to participate in teams across organizations to solve business and technical issues
Ability to successfully multi-task and prioritize work and reach out for clarifications if needed
Provide end to end ownership of technology products that includes complete lifecycle
Propose and implement medium to large scale system deployment (hardware, OS and cloud platforms)
Support new and existing deployments through the analysis of metrics, logs, system alarms etc… to troubleshoot problems and perform preventative maintenance on the various products.
Create new tools and automation of existing ones to improve efficiency of product maintenance
Analyzes, acquires, installs, modifies and supports operating systems.
Conducts highly complex systems automation/scripting and systems support activities, including system integration and monitoring.
Create design documentation for new products and procedures.
Maintain existing documentation of systems processes and procedures.
Facilitate outage restoration calls to access application impact, notify the stakeholders, and restore system issues.
Responsible to document issue summary, provide root cause analysis, and implement remediation actions.

Required Required Qualifications :
BS/BA, (Education may be substituted for increased years in experience on a year-for-year basis).
Extensive development experience with: Source control (git or svn preferred) and CI/CD tooling (Jenkins, CloudBees, Travis, or similar)
Experience automating and maintaining Operating System configurations on platforms such as Windows, Debian, and RHEL (CentOS, Fedora, etc.)
Extensive knowledge of enterprise deployment strategies for server OS, including clustered solutions.
Extensive scripting and/or traditional development experience in languages such as Python (preferred), Java, or C#
Extensive knowledge with creating Classes and Functions
Experience and understanding of OS lifecycle management and secure system configurations.
Experience with patch management tools.
Experience with VMware suite to include ESXi, Virtual Center, and vRA
Experience and ability to drive the adoption of automation to processes
Require strong automation and scripting Shell is required (BASH and/or Powershell)
Excellent analytical skills and the ability to apply them towards the investigation of existing installations.
Experience with performance tuning and troubleshooting server OS issues (CPU, Memory and I/O).
Experience working with both standalone and blade server technologies.
Extensive experience with CI/CD tooling such as Jenkins, CloudBees, Travis, or similar.
Extensive experience creating various end-to-end pipelines
NoSQL experience preferred but not necessary
Experience engineering automation for scale
Experience automating in AWS and Azure
Experience with configuration management tools such as Puppet, Chef, or Ansible
Working knowledge of Enterprise NAS/SAN technologies.
Working knowledge of Enterprise clustering technologies.
Strong understanding of project management methodologies and processes (Lean, Agile).
Strong knowledge of Incident, Problem and Change Management processes
Ability to create "Run Books", defining day-to-day support, maintenance, troubleshooting of the infrastructure.
