Job Description:

Business Unit Overview:Risk & Quantitative Analysis (RQA) performs the risk management activities and quantitative analysis functions at BlackRock. RQA’s mission is to help BlackRock manage its fiduciary and corporate risks, and provide independent risk oversight. In the course of executing this mission, RQA provides quantitative analysis to many of BlackRock’s businesses and helps promote the spread of best practices across the firm. RQA Operations team provides customized analysis of investment performance for RQA and across the various investment teams and management committees. The team

  • Provides the necessary oversight and analytics used in reporting and presenting investment performance in Blackrock.
  • Actively participate and lead in setting the investment performance analysis, reporting and presentation policies and standards in Blackrock.
  • Provides report production support to Global RQA
  • Provides Business Analyst support and solution for operational tasks or activities in RQA.

Responsibilities: This individual will be part of the Global RQA team. We are looking for candidates with proven managerial skills and exceptional Business, technical, quantitative and communication skill to join RQA. As an Associate in RQA Enterprise Risk team, the incumbent will work in a team environment and would be responsible for supporting the Operational Risk framework, wherein their key role would include:

  • Understand the Operational Risk policy and framework of Blackrock and ability to review existing processes against the framework
  • Handle India and other APAC Country’s end to end operating event investigation, from understanding the root cause to assigning the responsibilities
  • Using ARCHER database to enter operating events
  • Liaising with Key India stakeholders to update the Risk Register on a quarterly basis
  • Driving India Risk Control’s Committee and acting as its facilitator, presenting key themes around operating events and other emerging risks in business
  • Understand flow of information and data between various groups and systems.
  • Support and complete various efficiency and capacity-building initiatives, including automation/ standardization efforts.
  • Constantly evaluate systems, processes and procedures for inefficiencies, and make recommendations for improvement.
  • Provide a risk view on change management specifically for processes which are transitioned from one location to another
  • Conducting bi-annual RCSA by liaising with business, agreeing on the country allocations and challenging them where necessary
  • Facilitate cross-organizational communication and act as the point of contact for RQA
  • Creating and presenting Operational Risk reports to key stakeholders
  • Expertise in running multiple concurrent projects based on requirements.
  • Proactively escalate relevant issues
  • Supporting RQA community through incisive consulting and advisory work.
  • Involvement in key global projects such as driving operational efficiencies, maintaining risk database etc.
  • Conduct awareness programs, across platform to train business on operational risk policy and proactive risk management

Experience, Skills and Qualifications:

  • +5 years of proven and relevant experience in Operational Risk Management, Risk and Control functions, Risk Advisory or Risk Consulting.
  • CA/MBA in Finance from Reputed institute
  • Additional certifications like CFA/FRM though not a requisite would be preferable
  • Investment Banking/Asset management/ Financial Services experience is preferred
  • Good knowledge of Investment and trade lifecycle
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft office tools, VBA knowledge would be preferred
  • Ability to handle team
  • Good Spoken and Written Communication skills, should be able to converse freely with global counterparts
  • Excellent problem-solving and critical-thinking skills, ability to handle difficult conversation and arrive at a conclusion
  • Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work with changing priorities
  • Enjoys a fast-paced, high-intensity environment
  • Able to self-study and motivate and learn new concepts with minimal guidance
  • Work with teams in multi-office, multi-country environment across several time zones
