VP/SVP - Wealth Management & Digital Asset Compliance
Our client, a leading financial institution, is seeking a highly skilled and proactive compliance professional to join their team as a VP/SVP, specializing in Wealth Management and Digital Asset Compliance. This is a pivotal second-line role for a candidate passionate about the intersection of traditional finance and the rapidly evolving digital asset space. You will be instrumental in shaping and overseeing compliance frameworks for innovative products while ensuring robust investor protection.
As a senior member of the Compliance function, you will be responsible for providing strategic advice and oversight on a range of wealth management and digital asset initiatives. You will work closely with business stakeholders to design controls, assess new products, and navigate the complex regulatory landscape, with a particular focus on SFC requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
Regulatory Advisory & Oversight: Advise on the design, set standards for, and provide second-line oversight of retail investor protection controls, ensuring adherence to all SFC requirements.
Digital Asset Compliance: Support the launch and ongoing compliance of digital asset offerings, including tokenised securities, ensuring full alignment with applicable regulatory requirements.
Product Governance: Oversee and conduct compliance assessments for new digital asset product launches.
Regulatory Monitoring: Proactively monitor evolving global regulatory trends and industry best practices to update internal policies and risk controls accordingly.
Marketing & Promotion Review: Review and approve marketing and promotional materials for digital asset products.
Client & Investor Support: Provide compliance guidance on individual client onboarding, complaint handling, and investor education initiatives.
Regulatory Liaison: Serve as a key point of contact for regulatory inquiries, leading the preparation of formal responses and disclosures with accuracy and strategic alignment.
Training & Governance: Design and deliver training programmes on digital asset compliance for internal stakeholders. Prepare comprehensive compliance reports for senior management on regulatory developments, emerging risks, and recommended actions.
Candidate Profile:
Education: Bachelor's degree in Law, Accountancy, Finance, or a related discipline.
Experience: At least 7 years of relevant compliance advisory experience, or a minimum of 5 years gained within a licensed broker, fund manager, or bank.
Digital Asset Expertise: A minimum of 2 years of recent, hands-on experience in digital asset compliance, ideally gained from a crypto exchange, digital asset service provider, or a traditional institution's digital asset division.
Regulatory Knowledge: Solid understanding of Hong Kong's regulatory frameworks, including the SFO, SFC codes and guidelines, and AML/CTF and market abuse regulations. Familiarity with the HKMA's stablecoin regime is a plus.
Technical Fluency: A strong understanding of a broad range of virtual assets (e.g., tokenised securities, stablecoins, spot virtual assets, derivatives/ETFs) and technical fluency in blockchain infrastructure and cryptocurrency mechanics.
Investor Protection: Familiarity with retail client onboarding, suitability, and investor protection obligations is a strong advantage.
Skills & Attributes: Self-driven, independent, and a collaborative team player with strong analytical skills and a keen eye for detail. Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both English and Chinese. Mandarin proficiency is an advantage.
Certifications: Additional certifications in blockchain, digital assets, or virtual asset compliance are highly valued.
