Department Overview

Nomura's Global Middle Office "GMO", a dynamic and diverse team of finance professionals, and work closely with the Wholesale division supporting the business and their trading activities. GMO also coordinate with Risk, Operations, IT, Legal and Compliance as well as other functions within the Finance division. GMO provide management with valuable insight into the Wholesale trading performance and key financial information.


IBD Product Control provides front to back services, oversight and management of financial data to create a strong and robust financial control stewardship and framework around Investment Banking Division. This is a hybrid PC + MIS role as the candidate will be responsible to provide IBD management with critical financial performance analysis across the pillars of Products, Sectors and Markets. The candidate will act as the face-off between the bankers and other stakeholders, identify and remediate control risks, maintain strong governance and drive strategic change initiatives.

  • Act as the Primary Owner to IBD on all matters relating to P&L and Balance Sheet
  • Be responsible for delivery of timely, complete and accurate P&L daily and monthly with high quality commentary; manage Balance Sheet substantiation and monitor invoice receivable schedules
  • Be a Valued Partner to the Front Office and develop an in-depth understanding of the sector, it's risk profile, key positions, market movements and regulations
  • Provide insightful MIS data that will assist senior bankers in key decision making process.
  • Collaborate with other stakeholders including Accounting Policy, Financial Control, Tax, Operations, among others to ensure timely execution, reporting, and issue resolution.
  • Actively contribute in new business or process change initiatives through collaboration with other departments. Drive best practice and ensure control standards are met operationally
  • Drive automation and digitalization initiatives to improve productivity and enhance controls
  • Represent GMO and Finance in project work on regional and global change initiatives


  • Min 5 year's experience in Product Control or MIS
  • Must possess strong presentation skills in terms of materials preparation and delivery
  • Prior experience with IBD products including Advisory, ECM, DCM, and ALF
  • Possess superior client service and must be comfortable facing senior Bankers
  • Possesses strong analytical and problem solving skills, and ability to adapt to dynamic situations
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English
  • Strong Control mind set, and attention to detail
  • Ability to multi-task, work under pressure and prioritize workload. Demonstrate a strong sense of ownership and commitment to delivery
  • Must have the confidence to deliver tough messages and have difficult conversations
  • Self-motivated person, not afraid to challenge existing process and implement change
