Job Description
As a US Equity Research specialist, your main responsibilities will include:
1. Research & Coverage Development
- Lead fundamental bottom-up research on U.S. equities within Tech (AI, cloud, semiconductors, software, hardware, platforms) or Consumer (retail, e-commerce, brands, discretionary, staples) sectors.
- Build detailed financial models, conduct valuation analysis, and provide clear investment theses.
- Track industry trends, competitive landscape shifts, regulatory developments, and macro drivers influencing sector performance.
- Produce high-quality written research reports and investment memos for IC review.
- Generate alpha-driven investment ideas aligned with the firm's strategic directions.
- Collaborate closely with PMs to support portfolio construction, risk management, and position sizing.
- Provide ongoing monitoring of existing positions with timely updates and thesis reassessment.
- Leverage U.S. market insights to support the firm's broader investment ecosystem, including private equity deal sourcing, due diligence, and strategic industry mapping.
- Bridge global and China perspectives, translating U.S. industry learnings into actionable intelligence for the firm's investment teams.
- Contribute to shaping the research culture and processes of the new secondary market platform.
- Mentor junior analysts (if applicable) and help establish best-in-class research standards.
A successful US Equity Research specialist should have:
- 5-10+ years of U.S. equity research experience at top-tier investment banks, hedge funds, asset managers, or independent research houses.
- Strong expertise in Tech or Consumer sectors with proven coverage responsibility.
- Solid modeling, valuation, and financial analysis capabilities; ability to develop investment frameworks independently.
- Demonstrated track record of generating actionable, high-conviction investment ideas.
- Deep understanding of U.S. market dynamics, industry value chains, and competitive ecosystems.
- Familiarity with global innovation trends, supply-chain linkages, and cross-market drivers.
- Entrepreneurial mindset-comfortable joining a newly formed, high-growth investment team.
- Strong communication, presentation, and writing skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate across global offices.
- Mandarin proficiency preferred (for internal communication); English fluency required.
