Unix Hybrid Infrastructure Administrator is a Customer Facing (Cooperate client ) IT Operational role working within the IT operations team of a leading financial organization in Hong Kong. The individual will be responsible for all aspects of day to day operations of Unix platform which underpin critical banking applications. This includes private and public environments and includes responsible for security, performance, availability, cost, change and service request implementation. The individual will also need experience with critical incident & change management and ITIL processes.

Job Highlights

  • 2-3 years hands on Unix experience. On call support
  • Linux (Redhat, Oracle),Wintel ( Microsoft, Azure)
  • experience with Banking background is preferable

Work location: Causeway bay, Time Square

Responsibilities:

  •  Support mostly Ubuntu and Redhat Linux underpinning banking and finance applications and including:

a. Support Virtualization (VMWARE/Hyper-V)
b. Linux patch management
c. System monitoring
d. DR testing
e. Data backup tools monitoring and usage
f. Deployment and management tools (Openstack, Openshift, Cloudforms & Ansible)
g. Oracle Database support
h. Basic scripting including Java, Python, Perl, Ruby, Shell is helpful

  • Lead and participate in projects, including but not limited to:

a. Deployment of new appliances and servers
b. Capacity upgrades and hardware renewal
c. Cloud deployment of systems (Servers, services, applications)
d. Emerging technologies such as containerization (Docker, Kubernetes etc)
e. DevOps initiatives
f. Software deployment / upgrades

  • Report, follow up and escalate if necessary, any incident in a timely manner and ensure it has been logged and participate or lead resolution
  • Use and ensure any change and IT/user request are properly logged, followed up.
  • Proactively log and mitigate risks, as necessary.
  • Identify problems, devise prevention and resolve.
  • Make sure the systems are monitored by monitoring systems maximizing actionable alerts and minimizing alerts without relevance
  • Manage performance and capacity to an agreed methodology and cadence
  • Vendor management in collaboration with procurement team
  • Maintain 99% inventory accuracy including regular inventory audits.
  • Help to define infrastructure strategy to meet cost, availability, performance objectives

Requirements:

  • Knowledge of Linux (Redhat, Oracle),Wintel ( Microsoft, Azure deployment) & VMWare ESX administration
  • Include at 2-3 years hand’s on Unix experience.
  • Experience supporting public cloud environments, windows, data bases and networks would be advantageous.
  • Experience with critical incident & change management and ITIL processes.
  • At least 3yrs experience with Banking background is preferable
  • 7x24 on call support
