Overview of the Role:

The Country Head of Hong Kong is a newly created role working closely with the President Shareworks APAC to develop and implement the strategic and business plans for the Shareworks Hong Kong (Shareworks HK) business and assist in the day-to-day running of the business. The role will also promote a strong risk management culture and provide people leadership and oversight of the Shareworks by Morgan Stanley HK team.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Leadership of Shareworks HK Business
  • Strategic and Business Plans: Partner with the President APAC, Chief Operating Officer APAC and Head of Country Operations HK to design and implement the HK strategic and business plans through coordination with colleagues across the broader Shareworks by Morgan Stanley and Morgan Stanley at Work business. Identify, develop and launch key initiatives to drive business growth in Hong Kong and monitor their progress.
  • Operational and Business Management - Provide management oversight and leadership in the day to day running of the HK business in collaboration with the Head of Country Operations HK. Be the escalation point for all HK business issues and support the President APAC and the APAC Leadership Team to resolve these issues. Partner with the President APAC and Chief Operating Officer APAC to develop and monitor success metrics, quarterly and annual OKRs, and data analytics to inform and guide the direction of the HK business.
  • Collaboration and Cross-Sell -- Strengthen collaboration across Shareworks HK and other Morgan Stanley business units and infrastructure support functions to help drive opportunities and initiatives across the various areas within the firm. When necessary, help break down organizational boundaries and internal conflicts to facilitate more effective collaboration. This will also include networking with global counterparts to ensure global best practices are incorporated into the local business.
  • Regional and Global Connectivity - Establish effective two-way relationships with regional and global counterparts to advocate local needs and promote regional priorities.
  • Franchise Protection - Safeguard the reputation of Shareworks and Morgan Stanley and protect the Firm from reputational risks. Anticipate and raise issues when activities are not aligned with the Firm's best interests.


Risk Management and Governance
  • Risk Management - Actively and visibly promote a strong risk management culture across the HK business. Oversee and ensure compliance with Shareworks HK's risk governance and control framework and ensure risks are mitigated or eliminated. Take a leadership role in risk management forums and escalate issues to President APAC and Chief Operating Officer APAC and relevant Morgan Stanley colleagues as required.
  • Policies and Procedures - Ensure business processes are well documented and followed in all aspects of the HK business, including but not limited to business operations, client onboarding, client data use, entitlements, etc.
  • Regulatory Relationships - Be vigilant about local regulatory requirements and partner with Morgan Stanley Compliance to establish effective working relationship with local regulators. Act as a Responsible Officer (SFC regulated) for Shareworks HK and monitor licensing compliance and conduct risks.
  • Governance Oversight - Act as an active member of the APAC Leadership team and required committees and ensure that applicable global standards and local regulatory requirements are adhered to.
  • Compliance Requirements - Comply with the ethical standards contained within the Code of Conduct and adhere to Company policies and procedures, regulatory and legislative requirements.


People Management
  • Team Leadership - Together with the Head of Country Operations HK provide on-the-ground people leadership and oversight of the Shareworks HK team. Be an active participant and role model across people management matters and partner with HR to ensure the business is adequately and appropriately resourced.
  • Recruiting - Work with HR to ensure a smooth onboarding experience for new talent joining the organization, and actively participant in the recruitment of new talent to the organization.
  • Culture and Values - Promote the Morgan Stanley culture and values and ensure that appropriate local cultures are concurrently developed and respected.
