We are currently seeking a high calibre professional to join our team as as Private Equity Oversight Head.

Principal Responsibilities 

  • Oversee the development of Private Equity investment policies and strategies, including the return targets, fund selection criteria, diversification parameters, risk appetite and limits, etc
  • Responsible for oversight on Private Equity capital deployment relative to plan and ensure all investment guidelines and risk limits have been followed
  • Responsible for overseeing Private Equity investment valuations and performance relative to target return, with an objective to identify and escalate underperforming or mispriced assets for attention and actions
  • Contribute to effective functioning of investment and valuation oversight governance bodies on Private Equity, including the PRM (Portfolio Review Meeting), various Valuation Committees, LIC and INHK-HAIL Governance Meetings
  • Coordinate with other business areas, including Risk, Finance, Actuarial, Product, ISOT, RC and Legal on matters related to Private Equity and Private Credit
  • Coordinate with Group Investment and Group Investment COO on matters related to Private Equity and Private Credit
  • Coordinate with AMG and HAIL on L3 investment mandate implementation and oversight.
  • Contribute to the SAA review exercise in matters related to Private Equity
  • Contribute to the design and implementation of appropriate fund structures / investment vehicles to maximize investment efficiency of Private Equity
  • Keep abreast of relevant global developments in the capital and insurance market and changes in regulatory, actuarial and accounting regime, particularly in relation to insurance investment management and financial reporting that have impacts on Private Equity
  • Lead team initiatives to achieve and enhance investment management and oversight effectiveness on Private Equity
  • Deputise for the CIO in his/her absence on matters related to Private Equity
  • Ensure corporate governance standards are met and a sound control framework is in place for Private Equity investment matters; report to and provide sound advice and recommendation to LIC and ALCO on strategic investment and risk management issues; establish effective investment guidelines and restrictions for fund managers and establish policy and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory, internal and group investment restrictions
  • To discharge the local compliance requirement responsibilities by implementing Compliance policy and procedures, ensuring an adequate understanding of all relevant regulations applicable to the business and generally assisting with resolution of compliance related issues; to ensure an adequate understanding of all relevant anti-money laundering regulations applicable to the business and generally assisting with the resolution of related compliance problems
  • Work with other parties on audit requests


  • Solid experienced in managing complexity investment structures and strategies of Private Equity
  • Understanding of risk-return drivers of Private Equity
  • Good knowledge about legal and regulatory environment facing Private Equity investments
  • Comfortable to dealing with lack of active market environment of Private Equity
  • Capabilities to evaluate Private Equity that requires active engagement with underlying funds to seek up-to-date information for marking assets to market
  • Understanding of valuation drivers of Private Equity and effectively valuation oversight
  • Excellent communication skill to effectively manage internal and external stakeholders, including explaining technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audience
  • Good understanding of the challenges associated with asset and liability matching for life insurance
  • Comfortable with constants change in regulatory, actuarial and accounting regimes
  • Stay abreast with new actuarial tools and techniques that rapidly evolving to cope with new challenges for investment function
