Job description

Responsible for intake and completion of requests involving advanced graphics capabilities, utilizing design skills and advanced applications (such as In Design, Illustrator, Photoshop, etc.); may also utilize photography and video skills. The role is expected to ensure JPMorgan Chase's brand integrity while meeting our internal clients' needs for creative, professional, high-quality and cost-effective graphic materials. They must partner and build strong relationships with clients, the broader GCFO team and internal support groups.

This job description outlines the key goals of this role. In an ever-changing commercial environment, this role and its responsibilities will evolve in line with the needs and demands of the business.

Responsibilities

Responsible for intake and graphic design requests, as well as for ensuring quality, timeliness and overall client satisfaction

  • Review all elements of submitted requests with clients, proactively clarifying specifications to thoroughly understand request scope and production requirements
  • Estimate time needed for completion and determine need for any specialty application or other unique requirements
  • Actively manage customer demands. Proactively suggest alternative design that might save time and effort yet achieve the desired outcome
  • As needed, engage external vendors to secure competitive and thorough price quotes
  • Clearly communicate all client specifications when entering request into workflow system
  • Evaluate workload, capacity and required skills, estimate timeframe for completion and, when necessary, negotiate realistic deadlines
  • Create, produce, edit, and annotate graphic designs, multimedia files and documents in accordance with specifications, using a variety of high-end graphics applications
  • As appropriate to each request, work with clients on initial conceptualization or develop work created by others to meet clients’ specifications
  • Manage and prioritize own work with full accountability for ensuring quality, timeliness and client satisfaction associated with it, functioning independently with limited work direction
  • Proactively prioritize, coordinate, monitor and troubleshoot workflow to effectively meet all clients’ needs, exercising some discretion, latitude and interpretation to solve problems, seeking guidance and escalating as needed
  • Check all work for accuracy, consistency and completeness, ensuring that the product reflects what the client requested

Ensure JPMorgan Chase's brand integrity while meeting our internal clients' need for creative, professional, high-quality and cost-effective graphic materials

  • Harmonize creative design with the professional standards of a global financial services firm and its clients
  • Ensure that all materials are in compliance with established client and JPMorgan Chase guidelines

Partner and build strong relationships with clients, the GCFO management team, the broader Presentations and Production teams, and internal support groups

  • Communicate and coordinate effectively, proactively and professionally
  • Serve as client-focused subject matter expert, providing guidance and recommendations to clients regarding graphics, layout and/or document organization, development and production processes, technical issues, etc. Help clients understand processes and assess different options. Recommend approaches and cost-efficient alternatives
  • Promptly and proactively communicate request-related concerns and issues to clients, notifying them immediately if estimate and/or deadline must be renegotiated. Escalate issues to a manager as appropriate
  • Encourage clients to provide honest feedback about services and build confidence that any concerns will be addressed effectively
  • Provide constructive suggestions regarding how clients can partner most effectively with our group, i.e., provide advance notice about upcoming jobs, develop detailed and realistic project timelines, etc.
  • Communicate and escalate potential and actual client relations issues to a manager

Operate as part of larger Advanced Graphics and Presentations teams, supporting and leveraging others as needed, and sharing accountability for team results

  • Perform quality checking, special project or other assigned responsibilities, as needed
  • Collaborate with AG colleagues to process work efficiently (e.g., when appropriate, split large or time-sensitive requests to ensure that deadlines are met), asking for assistance and leveraging off team members’ expertise and skills, as appropriate
  • Follow AG procedures with regard to proper organization and maintenance of files and folders on the LAN, including maintenance of historical file archive
  • Identify and communicate training needs to CSMs and training team, and operational issues to CSMs
  • Actively seek opportunities to improve processes, services and client satisfaction, communicating/escalating issues and opportunities for improvement. Recommend improvements to CSMs and partner with them to ensure effective implementation
  • Assist in training staff, as needed

Perform duties in accordance with departmental policies and procedures

  • Utilize departmental workflow, document management, scheduling and timekeeping systems as required by role
  • Report to work as scheduled, unless directed otherwise by manager
  • Adhere to JPMC Code of Conduct standards regarding professional and personal conduct

Required skills: Technical

Ability to produce diverse range of graphic products, such as posters, invitations, departmental templates, multimedia files, websites and other premium graphic design work, in accordance with client specifications

Proficiency in a majority of the following applications:

  • Advanced Adobe Suite Applications: Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Acrobat, Dreamweaver, Flash and After Effect
  • Advanced Microsoft PowerPoint
  • Dreamweaver—the preferred application for Web creation, although knowledge of and proficiency in other Web design applications will be considered
  • Web browsers—Internet Explorer, Chrome and Firefox
  • HTML coding

Solid working knowledge of the following applications desired:

  • Visio
  • JavaScript
  • Media Player
  • Real Audio and Video
  • Action Script (within Flash)

Solid working knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel, and proficiency in MS Outlook, the internet and PPS shared drive usage

  • In-depth knowledge of JPMorgan Chase branding guidelines, upon completion of training
  • Proficiency in JPMorgan PitchPRO and DocPRO templates and departmental business applications (Workflow Exchange, shared drive)
  • Some
    working knowledge of all production equipment and processes, upon completion of training
  • Understanding of printing process to assist in properly setting up jobs for print

Required skills: Soft

  • Intermediate or higher level understanding of color theory, typography, design concepts, and printing as well as other delivery (output) techniques
  • Exceptional attentiveness to detail balanced with mindfulness of the overall DMD function and the needs and expectations of internal clients and their clients
  • Ability to accurately define, articulate and manage client expectations
  • Strong client focus and commitment to delivering consistently excellent customer service
  • Strong interpersonal and client relations skills, including the ability to communicate and coordinate effectively and efficiently with colleagues, management and internal clients
  • Consistently strong time management skills including punctuality, an appropriate sense of urgency and the ability to accurately and efficiently review and prioritize high volume of work under intense deadline pressure
  • Strong process management skills and commitment to continuously improving quality and timeliness of his/her own work and that of group and department
  • Ability to work effectively and proactively, both independently and as part of a team

Experience 

  • 2+ years of design experience, with strong design portfolio as well as interactive file examples and/or previously designed Web sites
