Operations Manager, USD SI - Digital Business Services

We are currently seeking a high calibre professional to join our team as an Operations Manager, USD SI.

Principal Responsibilities

  • Ensuring efficient USD CHATS settlement through monitoring of payment conditions of Direct Participants (DPs) on real-time basis
  • Ensuring smooth payment flows in the market and securing smooth transfer of data between HKICL and SI from start of day to end of day processes
  • Monitoring throughput performance of DPs against the established Throughput guidelines and overseeing DPs’ end-of-day funding transactions
  • Proposing key performance indicators for management information reporting and compiling monthly information package for management review
  • Contributing to the continuous development of USD Clearing System through discussing with HKMA, HKICL, DPs and internal departments to identify and review user requirements on system enhancements, and performing respective user’s acceptance tests and market simulation tests
  • Supporting management and mitigation of operational risk by operational risk identification, assessment, mitigation and control, and detect, report and handle exceptions including gridlock on a timely manner, and report important issues for management attention
  • Supporting the planning and execution of business continuity and contingency plan and perform regular contingency drill exercise
  • Participating and supporting to the compliance with HKMA directives, Clearing and Settlement Systems Ordinance, the US Dollar Clearing House Rules and audit requirements
  • Fulfilling all control requirements via continuous review of working procedures and implementation of audit recommendation, and preparing returns to HKMA in accordance with the CSSO requirement
  • Contributing to operational efficiency and productivity improvement whilst remaining within a stringent and controlled environment

Requirements

  • A broad knowledge of the banking business preferably with Treasury knowledge with at least 5 years’ experience on relevant exposure in handling payments and clearing operations in a major financial institution
  • Good knowledge of HKMA payment systems and RTGS operations
  • A good understanding of Clearing and Settlement Systems Ordinance, the Rules, HKAB Regulations and all relevant banking law Industry
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in banking business
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, proficiency in spoken and written English and Chinese
  • Proven ability and experience of working in a high-pressure, fast paced environment where bold, time critical decision making is essential
