Our client is an US based asset management firm with an international presence. To cope with their business expansion, they are now hiring a Product Development Manager to join them based in Hong Kong.


  • Partnering with the portfolio management teams to develop and execute product strategy for pension and mutual funds, including new product ideas and market demand, the positioning of performance results in light of the competition and the market environment, and the highlighting of key differentiating factors and benefits. 
  • Responsible for developing appropriate messaging around changing portfolio composition and tailoring such content uniquely for each relevant sales channel and each type of output
  • Act as a business manager for the products, liaising with legal, tax, operations and other teams to provide support and project management for fund changes and updates
  • Work directly with portfolio management and product development leaders to influence the product development process by utilizing the individual’s expert knowledge of investment products, market trends and the best way in which to position our investment choices/platforms to our client base
  • Become one of the key sources of investment intelligence and messaging for the assigned funds, and be responsible for providing robust product support; ensuring quality control of content throughout the organization. Other areas of focus may include the development and support of external marketing pieces and efficiency enhancing projects
  • Manage investment staff and oversee day-to-day investment management activities including trading, sub-delegate monitoring, portfolio manager support and commentary/attribution reporting.  Select, train, motivate, and develop investment staff including the conduct of performance appraisals, development plans, salary administration, and conflict resolution. Maintain a general, familiar, consistent leadership presence
  • Perform other jobs related duties or special project as required


  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent required, prefer continuing education within a financial emphasis (MBA)
  • At least 5 years’ experience in strategic marketing, product management, or portfolio management within the investment management industry.  Also willing to consider candidates with a focus on sales within the mutual fund, institutional or hedge fund investment industry
  • Highly prefer SFC Responsible Officer (Type 1, 4, 9) experience 
  • Prefer CFA or CIMA, or progress towards either (or other equivalent certifications)
  • Must have proven ability to influence others and build consensus amongst various stakeholders
  • Must be able to manage complex projects and lead cross functional teams
  • Must be client-focused with proven ability to create and execute initiatives to meet strategic objectives
  • Must be team-oriented with ability to work independently and efficiently to meet deadlines with limited supervision
  • Strong management and organizational skills including the ability to select, train, coach, develop, and motivate team members when required
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to write good business plans
  • Marketing writing and verbal communication skills in English.  Fluent in Cantonese and Putonghua would be an advantage
