Sustainability and Climate Change (S&CC) is one of the services provided by our professionals in the Risk Advisory team at Deloitte China.  We are now recruiting an Manager to play a key role in building and developing the service and team in Hong Kong. With a strong consulting/advisory background, the ideal candidate will have expertise in at least two of the following focus areas*:

  • Climate change and carbon risk management
  • Green finance and responsible investment
  •  Sustainable supply chains
  • Sustainability / Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) strategy development and reporting readiness

*Note: Specialists in other sustainability / climate change related disciplines (e.g. impact measurement) will be considered if they can prove a commercial track record in that discipline.
The successful candidate will be responsible for business development and proposal writing, as well as project delivery of S&CC projects. The team is growing and in due course the role may also include team development and line management responsibilities. As the team is in growth mode, the successful candidate will be required to promote the team through networking, conference talks and editorials. A passion for sustainability and climate change issues and an enthusiastic attitude to work are essential.
Work you'll do:

  • Design needs-based sustainability engagements that promote integration with relevant business practices, while enabling the attainment of strategic objectives
  • Lead and work as a key team member to grow and develop sustainability and climate change services to become 'best in class' in Mainland China and Hong Kong
  • Support the senior team members to develop business development opportunities and write proposals in the given location
  • Provide research and technical expertise on the required sustainability and climate change related topic to make tailored recommendations that enable clients’ sustainability agendas
  • Contribute to market, industry, client and policy research as required for project work 
  • Design data and technology-enabled business processes that enable value-adding business outcomes
  • Plan and manage projects to deliver a superior client experience
  • Prepare and finalise key deliverables
  • Perform research and contribute to the development of thought leadership
  • Increase quality, accuracy, and impact of reports and presentations by leveraging critical thinking, experience, and judgment
  • Build an in-depth knowledge of the client’s business and stay up-to-date on industry activities, marketplace trends, innovation efforts, and leading practices
  • Leverage cross-geography insights and practitioners to enhance client service delivery
  • Develop relationships, establish credibility with, and instill confidence in clients
  • Apply profitability management and sales fundamentals to support projects and pursuits
  • Collaborate with other service lines within Deloitte

  • Bachelor's degree or above in science, engineering, economics, accounting, environment, or other relevant discipline
  • Relevant masters or other further degree preferred, but not essential
  • Solid experience of working in a consulting environment
  • 6-8 years' experience in sustainability and climate change consulting, including but not limited to: climate change, carbon management, environmental and social risk, green finance, responsible investment, sustainable supply chain, sustainability strategy and reporting readiness
  • Experience in giving client presentations
  • Strong analytical skills with high commitment to providing quality client service
  • Ability to direct own work and take initiative, as well as direct junior team members
  • Team working skills
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills in both English and Chinese
  • Willingness to travel
  • Passion for sustainability related subjects
