My client is a MNC life insurer with established footprint in the Hong Kong market. As part of their business expansion they are now looking for a Manager to heads up the Financial Reporting & FP&A function.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Lead the financial reporting and FP&A function
  • Maintain and strengthen internal controls over financial reporting
  • Coordinate the month end closing and balance sheet reconciliation process
  • Produce accurate and timely financial reports in both USGAAP basis, regulatory basis and HKFRS basis to management, regional / head office, regulators and other external bodies as appropriate and ensure compliance with group policies and local regulations
  • Coordinate annual audit and liaise with external auditors on accounting issues
  • Prepare annual audited financial statements, tax filing and local government surveys
  • Maintain the chart of accounts and reporting structure in complied with the application of USGAAP, local regulatory and local GAAP basis
  • Oversee the expenses management and the planning and projection process
  • Prepare FP&A reports and provide support to management for financial information and in-depth analysis
  • Provide technical support to Financial Controller including evaluation and implementation of new accounting pronouncements to ensure USGAAP and HKFRS compliance
  • Participate in the implementation of new accounting standards (e.g. HKFRS9, 17 etc)
  • Support the department by assisting in special projects on an as needed basis

 

Qualifications/Requirements:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
  • Holder or finalist of a recognized professional accounting or finance qualification (e.g. CA, CPA, ACCA, HKSA, CIMA, CGA, CMA, ASCPA, AICPA etc.)
  • 7 years or above in accounting/auditing and reporting; knowledge of the life insurance industry is preferred
  • Strong computer skills (Excel, PowerPoint, Words, etc.) are required; previous experience in PeopleSoft system is preferred but not required
  • Good communication skill and a team player
  • Fluent in English and Cantonese. Knowledge of Mandarin speaking an advantage.
  • Good supervisory and planning skills will be advantageous
