Our Markets business is one of the largest of its kind in the world. It combines sophisticated 24-hour global coverage with a detailed knowledge of local markets. Our services are offered both online and offline in more than 60 countries and territories worldwide. We specialise in foreign exchange and metals, credits and rates, structured derivatives, equities and debt, equity and equity-linked capital markets.

We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Director, Metals Trading, Asia Pacific.

The Global Precious Metals business is composed of 4 pillars: Financing, Physical, Trading, and Custody & Clearing. The financing and physical pillars are unique within Global Markets. Building on our market leading position in Precious Metals and HSBC's strong client franchise, the business is developing our Base Metals offering.

This role supports HSBC's client needs, market risk management and development for the Precious and Base Metals business.

Principal responsibilities
  • Precious Metals Spot / Forward pricing and market risk management
  • Physical metals management, financing and funding
  • Contribute to the development of the Base Metals business
  • Provide timely and accurate dealing services for clients in Metals
  • Manage the firm's inventory and trading risk, in compliance with all applicable regulation within the Metals business
  • Build and develop relationships with external and internal clients and external partners and the industry, and collaborate with internal stakeholders
  • Deliver fair outcomes for customers and ensure own conduct maintains the orderly and transparent operation of financial markets
  • Lead, develop and motivate the team, developing the capability and talent to provide for succession and ensure delivery of business objectives
  • Share best practices, and lead and encourage cross-country / business teamwork
  • Lead and contribute to implementation of processes and infrastructure changes, to maximise operational effectiveness and deliver business results
  • Lead the implementation of policies, practices and standards across the region to ensure effective risk management and consistency of global trading practices


Qualifications
Requirements
  • Strong understanding of Commodities, its products, clients, systems and key processes
  • Extensive trading experience in a Markets function, with the ability to provide consistent pricing to client requests and manage inventory and risks
  • Proven leadership experience, with people management and development skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, influencing and collaboration skills
  • Track record working in global team and dealing with a diverse group of stakeholders
  • Ability to work in a fast paced work environment with continuous changes, including regulatory change
  • Mindset and track record challenging the status quo and improving operational efficiency
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
