Are you passionate about research and economics? We're looking for an Asia Economist to join the Macro Research team within GIR. The position will focus on the intersection between the macroeconomy, economic policy, and financial markets in Hong Kong.

OUR IMPACT
Global Investment Research (GIR) division provides investment recommendations by generating fundamental research and analysis of economies, markets, industries and companies. GIR analysts help our clients achieve superior returns by seeking to develop creative, differentiated investment insights and ideas. Our clients include asset managers, hedge funds, mutual funds, and pension funds, among others.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS
JOB DESCRIPTION
We are seeking an economist to join the Asia Economics team in Hong Kong to focus on regional economic and market research. The economist will:

  • Closely follow macroeconomic, policy, and political trends across the region
  • Produce original economic research on topics of interest to markets
  • Develop quantitative models to analyze and forecast regional trends relating to growth, inflation, or other themes
  • At times, support research projects of the Asia economics team through data gathering and analysis
  • Present the team's economic views to internal and external clients

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Master or PhD in Economics
  • Strong interest in macroeconomics and monetary policy
  • Experience producing original and thought-provoking economic research
  • Excellent writing skills
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills
  • Ability to work both autonomously and in a close team setting
  • Meticulous attention to detail and strong organizational skills
