The Role Responsibilities

Reporting to Virtual Bank Chief Risk Officer (CRO), Director of Risk Governance & Risk Appetites will take a leading role to:

  • Ensure Virtual Bank Risk Governance and Group-level Risk Governance robustly compliant
  • Ensure effective implementation of the Risk Type Frameworks and the Policies
  • Affirm the effectiveness of Risk Framework Owners
  • Identify, monitor, and escalate risks and issues to Virtual Bank CRO, Management Team, and Board (or Board level committees)
  • Oversee and challenge Risk Appetites proposed by First Line of Defence (First LOD)
  • Review and challenge risk remediation plans set by First LOD to mitigate Risk Appetites (RA) breaches or issues
  • Escalate issues not in line with existing or adjusted RA to Virtual Bank CRO
  • Set risk data aggregation, risk reporting and data quality requirements and ensure that respective systems and processes meet these requirements
  • Ensure that there are appropriate controls to comply with applicable laws and regulations, escalate significant regulatory non-compliance matters and developments to Virtual Bank CRO, Management Team, and Board (or Board level committees)
  • Promote a healthy risk culture and good conduct

Regulatory & Business Conduct

  • Effectively and collaboratively identify, escalate, mitigate and resolve risk, conduct and compliance matters

Our Ideal Candidate

• Strong experience in retail banking and ability to understand headwinds facing industry
• Cross-jurisdictional expertise spanning technology, business and regulation
• Previous experience in a virtual banking environment, particularly in early building stages
• Understanding of the challenges affecting both traditional and evolving banking models as well as the applicable risks
• Understanding of bank account opening requirements and ability to develop a streamlined remote onboarding process
• Understanding of global regulatory trends with a focus on regulatory technologies (regtech), open APIs and virtual banking
• Knowledge of operational risks and their impact on people, processes and technology and ability to develop mitigating controls related thereto
• Knowledge of banking laws and regulations and ability to assess their risk impact on virtual banking
• Ability to assess the value of strategic and reputational risks and develop processes to capitalize on these concepts to provide Virtual Bank with a market advantage
• Ability to understand and implement novel product offerings suitable to virtual banking
• Ability to foresee the impact of trends on Virtual Banks business model and develop new business
• Ability to nurture and develop a strong relationship with regulators and position Dragon as a benchmark for thought leadership
• Demonstrate a strong track record of communicating with and educating regulators
• Demonstrate an ability and genuine willingness to work with different cultures and diverse backgrounds
• Have strong advocacy and oratory skills as well as the ability to explain theoretical concepts to team members with varying backgrounds
• Be a team player and fit within a rapidly evolving organizational and business environment
