Morgan’s Custody & Fund Services (part of CIB business), is a premier fund accounting and administration provider that helps investment management companies, pension funds, sovereign funds, etc. with full service offering covering accounting, valuations, portfolio analytics and NAV dissemination. The Custody & Fund Services (CFS) Technology Group is responsible for the alignment of J.P. Morgan technology strategic roadmap to that of our key clients in Asia.  We are currently seeking an experienced Senior Application Development manager to lead and build out a team based in Hong Kong. You will have extensive experience leading application development teams and platform migration programmes.


 


Position Summary  


 


The Senior Application Development role will own the final delivery of the software solution of various technology projects for CFS in Asia. The role will be co-located with the senior business leaders in Hong Kong and will be accountable as the single point of contact for the CFS platform delivery strategic roadmap.


 


This person is a SME in investment accounting (e.g. FIS InvestOne) and client reporting platforms with a proven track record of building mission critical production platforms that include a mix of software vendor applications and in-house systems.  The successful candidate must be able to partner and influence across all levels of the organisation on proactive enhancement, efficiency, stability and improvement initiatives.


 


Key Accountabilities / Major Responsibilities


 


The position will be responsible for end-to-end systems development and support including:




  • SME for investment accounting (e.g. FIS InvestOne) and client reporting platforms;



  • Ensure business requirements and functional design of global platforms incorporates Asia specific requirements;



  • Build out dedicated team of business technologists based in Hong Kong to drive platform execution initiatives;



  • Work closely with offshore development teams and global platform leads to ensure consistency of delivery;



  • Identify and escalate gaps in the current architecture that the new solution may expose;



  • Ensure the implementation of application instrumentation for appropriate monitoring, including health checks and application logging;



  • Responsible for Audit, Risk, Control Self-Assessment and oversight of the production environment; and



  • Follow JP Morgan’s project delivery framework and internal system development procedure and standards.

Qualifications and Demonstrated Experience


 


The ideal candidate possess a proven combination of strategic, analytical and IT management skills with a key focus in the fund services business domain.  The candidate must have superior software engineering skills coupled with IT management and relationship building skills.  Additional qualifications include:




  • Bachelor Degree in Information Technology;



  • Minimum 10 years of system development experience;



  • Experience with managing complex third party vendor accounting platforms in the financial services industry;



  • SME for back office and client reporting in a fund services operating environment;



  • Leadership of multi-jurisdictional software engineering teams with extensive experience with designing scalable solutions;



  • Hands on manager, who can drive change, influence and lead across business and technology;



  • Strong end to end ownership, governance, controls, risks and dependency management;



  • Experience managing third party vendor relationships;



  • Ability to develop consensus within a matrix-managed organizational climate of diverse operational activities; and



  • Excellent written and oral communications skills
