Global Risk is a thriving and expert risk management function supporting HSBC globally with all aspects of risk management. The team actively manages a varied and dynamic range of risk types, including security, fraud, information security, contingency, geopolitical, operational, credit, pension, insurance, financial crime and regulatory compliance, market and reputation risks. All parts of the Global Risk team use their skills, insight and integrity to handle established threats and those they see emerging, acting to protect and enable HSBC to deliver sustainable growth.

We are currently seeking a high caliber professional to join our team as Credit Risk Manager.

Principal responsibilities

  • Review and recommend approval of new, interim and annual review of credit applications to management.
  • Perform credit risk analysis and make independent judgment in credit assessment.
  • Provide support to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of credit risk approval procedures and systems.
  • Develop positive working relationships within the credit risk team and other business partners.
  • Interact with local regulators and internal or external auditors.
  • Assisting with the execution of new initiatives and activities in support of the development of credit risk.
  • Work with other line of business and line of risk to implement new requirement and regulatory rules requirement and reporting
  • Follow up audit requests and related action items
  • Act as the Business Contingency Plan coordinator including business impact analysis, arrange annual Business Contingency Plan test and handling Business Contingency Plan communication within the team
  • Participate in the regular Crisis Management role play exercise
  • Work with relevant stakeholders on Risk Control Assessment
  • Handle outsourcing activity assessment and documents
  • Provide assistance to Head of Credit Risk to manage projects and ad hoc requests


  • Understand the standard requirement of credit related regulatory requirements
  • Experience in risk projects and business management would be an advantage
  • Strong communication, analytical and interpersonal skills
  • An effective team player
  • Alive to the wider global risk aspects of the role and an ability to adapt within a constantly changing environment
  • Can do attitude, balance risk and opportunity and ability to form positive relationships
  • Good understanding of various types of investment, debt and derivative products is preferred
