Our client is a Global Investment Bank who are rapidly growing their commodities Trading platform in Asia. As part of this growth they are looking for an experienced Commodities Lawyer to join their team. You will have a minimum of 5 years' PQE ideally with in an within an in-house commodities trading/financing/banking role and a strong understanding of the commodities sector. Ideally you will have experience of working with Banks and Financial institutions although private practice experience will not be ruled out.

Key Requirements and responsibilities:

  • Draft and negotiate Commodities trade agreements and trade finance documentation
  • Demonstrate a broad knowledge around commodities logistics and commercial documents of international shipment of commodities
  • Understanding of Commodities futures/derivatives is highly desired
  • Experience of regulatory issues involving a global business desk operating in a regulated entity. Issues may include jurisdictional licensing and cross border origination/marketing

Experience:

  • Minimum 5 year PQE ideally within an Investment Bank
  • Admitted to practise in a Commonwealth jurisdiction (England & Wales/ Singapore / Hong Kong)
  • Mandarin would be a distinct advantage
  • Dynamic individual with an astute with regard to risk assessment, commercial and self-assured to get the respect of the business
  • Team-oriented personality with good judgement to identify and escalate within the Regional and Global Legal Governance/Regulatory/Cross border/Sanctions issues promptly
