Business and Franchise Control and Governance Head
The Business and Franchise Control and Governance Head will work as part of the first line in a business capacity across the Asia Pacific region for the regional APAC COO as part of the Regional CEO's office.
A thorough understanding of the strategic direction of the businesses combined with a solid practical grounding in controls, franchise risk and governance is required. Requires ability to offer strategic influence on the business and interaction with other functions or businesses and exposure to Citi senior management. Excellent communication skills are essential in order to negotiate internally, often at a senior level. Some external communication/negotiation may be necessary. Candidates require an excellent understanding of the industry, direct competitors' products and services in order to contribute to the commercial objectives of the Asia Pacific franchise. Candidates will be required to think beyond existing solutions, assumptions or current knowledge and be proactive around policy formulation and contribution and execution of future strategy.

Responsibilities:
  • Principal liaison to the APAC CEO and COO for first line controls and governance, ensuring adherence to heightened regulatory standards across the APAC franchise
  • Develop relationships with business heads, support functions and senior leadership and work in close partnership both regionally and globally to act as a trusted advisor and to ensure adherence across multiple controls providing clarity in complex problems
  • Collaboration with senior in-business and functional (Compliance, Legal, Risk and Internal Audit etc) stakeholders and partners as well as and senior leadership both regionally and globally to help contribute to direction, standards, and execution of processes and ensuring clear accountability
  • Appropriately assess franchise risk, governance and controls when franchise decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations.
  • Escalate, manage and report control issues with transparency, as well as create accountability
  • Provide leadership and promote business ties with internal and external senior leaders/clients across key businesses, regions and support functions
  • Senior purview of assessment and remediation plans across all lines of businesses and markets within scope
  • To participate in multiple regional and global Steering Committees and act as a delegate, where required
  • To coordinate the consistent execution of the processes and to communicate progress, roadblocks and solutions to regional and global implementation within established time frames
Qualifications:
  • 15+ years' experience in financial services
  • Well-grounded conceptual/practical grounding in controls, franchise risk and governance is required ideally from a Compliance or Risk 2nd line of defense background
  • Experience managing teams or mandates with broad accountability in a complex environment.
  • Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional organization
  • Ability to balance multiple strategic priorities with tactical actions
  • Proven track record and accountability providing clarity in complex problems
  • Excellent communication skills required in order to negotiate internally, often at a senior level. Some external communication/negotiation may be necessary.
Education:
  • Bachelor's/University degree or equivalent experience, potentially Masters degree and managerial experience
