Assistant Manager, Credit Initiation

The Role Responsibilities


  • Click here to enter text. Support and provide inputs to Head, Credit Initiation for developing operational model and shaping strategic for Credit Initiation.
  • Implement the operating model and strategic direction for Credit Initiation to best support process efficiencies and effectiveness.
  • Participate in the regular Mortgage Sales and Credit Sharing Forum and ad hoc meeting
  • Support new business initiatives, marketing program launches and revenue initiatives.
  • Grant a prudent credit decision by assessing and evaluating customer's creditworthiness (including existing customer and new application) for Retail mortgage and wealth management products
  • Manage the operations of the respective lending team to ensure services rendered meet the agreed services standards
  • Perform exceptional credit underwriting for all retaining banking products
  • Supervise and oversee end-to-end approval process and ensure consistency in underwriting standard
  • Act as deputy in the absence of Head of Credit Initiation.
  • Regularly review work steps to improve productivity on services provided and control measures
  • Facilitate and support launch of products
  • Direct and participate all "back end" integration / EUC enhancement and implementation to ensure maximum efficiency and smooth rollout.
People and Talent
  • Perform resource planning to maximize the team productivity
  • Manage the team to meet all KPI
  • Manage, motivate, train and develop staff to ensure performance is optimised
  • Identify and train up successor to cope with the talent growth
Risk Management
  • Conduct credit assessment on consumer credit applications per credit policies and regulatory guidelines
  • Together with CRM to standardize credit policy definitions on retail lending products
  • Comprehend the prevailing fraud type so as to deter and prevent from fraud attack
  • Ensuring compliance with the standards of regulatory and compliance practices as defined by internal and external requirements.
Regulatory & Business Conduct
  • Display exemplary conduct and live by the Group's Values and Code of Conduct.
  • Take personal responsibility for embedding the highest standards of ethics, including regulatory and business conduct, across Standard Chartered Bank. This includes understanding and ensuring compliance with, in letter and spirit, all applicable laws, regulations, guidelines and the Group Code of Conduct.
  • Support line manager to manage a team of credit approvers to perform day to day credit underwriting for new applications as well as portfolio tasks with full compliance to all regulatory requirements.

  • Risk Management and Control: Good working knowledge of Standard Chartered's approach to risk management, specifically as applicable to Risk Operations
  • Governance, Oversight and Controls: Strong leadership capabilities and management skills, with the ability to deliver effective controls within Risk Operations through both directly-managed and virtual team
  • Regulatory Framework and Requirements: Awareness and understanding of the regulatory framework in which the firm operates, and the regulatory requirements and expectations relevant to the role.
