OVERVIEW OF THE DEPARTMENT
Asia Wealth Management (AWM) Operations provides support for the Asia Pacific and Australia Wealth Management Businesses. The AWM businesses offer a wide range of cash, derivative, alternative investment and banking products to clients. AWM Operations provide first class support to the business and clients whilst driving operational efficiencies and maintaining strong risk management and controls. The AWM Operations teams are based in Australia, Hong Kong, India and Singapore.

The available role is based in HK and reports to the regional Head of PWM Operations. The individual performing the role will be responsible for leading the Ops teams that support the Asia Pacific Wealth Management business. The teams perform a wide range of functions including trade booking, banking support, asset transfer, business engagement, and are based in HK, Singapore and India.

The role has a high degree of interaction with the PWM business, technology, legal and compliance partners. It also requires a high degree of interaction with other Morgan Stanley Operations teams in the region and globally.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Key responsibilities include:

  • Set objectives and deliverables for the Asia Pacific Wealth Mgt Operations teams
  • Manage daily operations within the desired risk and control framework
  • Work with IT and business partners on strategic projects and initiatives
  • Engage with business stakeholders and infrastructure partners to understand priorities and any impact to operations
  • Manage ad-hoc business requests including new product enquiries and support
  • Drive LEAN efficiency ideas and execution
  • Manage team capacity to ensure all risks are appropriately managed
  • Develop staff within the department, succession planning
  • Deliver the Operations Leadership Commitments to staff




Qualifications:



DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE
Skills Required:
  • 15+ year’s relevant industry experience with recent experience in private banking
  • Strong understanding of financial products
  • Strong interpersonal skills, the ability to develop strong networks, build consensus and drive execution
  • Proven people management experience, including management of remote teams
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Ability to define objectives and a strong track record of delivery against objectives set
  • Ability to develop a strong working knowledge of the IT infrastructure supporting the Operations processes
  • Attention to detail, the ability to ask probing questions to quickly and accurately detect issues and opportunities
  • Ability to multi-task, work in a fast pace environment and within tight deadlines
