The global focus on Anti Money Laundering (AML) and Know Your Client (KYC) is increasing. The Due Diligence and KYC Specialist will play an important role in partnering and supporting Front-Office to help manage the associated risks involved in onboarding clients, with special attention to meeting the regulatory AML and KYC requirements.

Department Description

Fidelity's Asian Pacific (ex.Japan) client-base covers numerous dynamic and highly competitive markets. Asia Pacific Institutional Services is a client-oriented department providing support services for various business lines across Asia Pacific. The departmental remit encompasses both local office activities in their respective market, together with supporting activities in other markets where Fidelity does not maintain a physical office.

Working in partnership with Sales Directors and Relationship Directors in our local offices, the department has broad responsibilities for business qualification, new client implementation and ongoing client service (including change management). Purpose of your role

The global focus on Anti Money Laundering (AML) and Know Your Client (KYC) is increasing. The Due Diligence and KYC Specialist will play an important role in partnering and supporting Front-Office to help manage the associated risks involved in onboarding clients, with special attention to meeting the regulatory AML and KYC requirements.

The role will work closely with Relationship Managers, Sales and other stakeholders/functions such as Operations and Compliance functions to ensure that the whole client account lifecycle management is performed consistently, in compliance with regulatory and internal policies, and in an efficient and client-friendly manner.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own the end-to-end AML/KYC processes associated with onboarding of new clients, and subsequent trigger event and periodic renewal process for all clients under the APAC Institutional, Wholesale and Private Bank business channels.
  • Conducting client due diligence with other internal functions, including where necessary undertaking due diligence using available solutions and open sources.
  • Act as a KYC and AML subject matter resource for the Client Services function and Operation teams with respect to client onboarding and maintenance
  • Act as a subject matter resource for the Client Service function on KYC/AML policies and procedures
  • Responsible/aid development and implementation of operational control policies and procedures in day-to-day business activities.
  • Responsible/aid development of reporting in relation to client management matters pertaining to KYC.
  • Maintaining management information, collating and analysing such information and providing commentary. Where required and necessary, collecting relevant information from other functions. Where applicable and required, assisting to track follow-up actions
  • Reviewing name screening alerts
  • Assisting with ad hoc projects relating to the FCC programme
  • The specialist is expected to stay current with all regulatory changes and requirements around client KYC, Suitability and Documentation.

Experience and Qualifications Required

  • At least 6+ years of solid experience in KYC with a focus on good understanding for the execution of a CDD program with or gained at a large multinational organization; in particular with understanding for client engagement and be able to develop front-line desktop guidance that draws from the prevalent policies and procedures associated with CDD.
  • Have good understand of different components of an AML Programme, including practical application of "Client Due Diligence" (CDD) (or "Know-Your-Customer" (KYC)), in at least one or more Asia Pacific jurisdiction
  • Experience of an asset management client base and an understanding of the asset management business is an advantage
  • Demonstrable experience in handling difficult conversations with key stakeholders and finding solutions to problems
  • Demonstrate the ability to learn and adapt in new environment
  • Have experience in and demonstrate comfort in handling and analysing large volumes of data
  • A willingness to be flexible, "hands on" and ability to work independently
  • Demonstrate sound judgement on when to escalate matters to senior management
  • Experience in managing projects and changes; an advantage if such experience was gained in financial crime compliance areas
  • Relevant qualification in CAMS, AAMLP Core Level will be an advantage
  • Experience in working with systems and designing processes
  • Expert in using Excel, PowerPoint and Word.
  • English and Chinese language skills are required
