Senior Associate (Finance), Successful Private Equity Investor, Munich, Germany

About our client
We are working with an entrepreneurial private equity vehicle which is part of a wider family of similar buy & build vehicles covering a number of sectors in Germany, established over the course of the last 25 years. The track record of realized investments has been strong. The standard model is to consolidate fragmented markets through acquisition and integration, seeking critical mass and a successful exit. Having completed several initial acquisitions, the management of the firm is now looking to support the further professionalisation of the business by hiring a Senior Associate, Finance, to support the Finance Director with group accounting, consolidation, and project work across the business. The position will be based in Munich, and the role will progress alongside the firm.

What the job involves

• Analyse data to support business decisions
• Contribute to financial reporting, budgeting and forecasting
• Assist in the consolidation of financial statements and analysing them
• Handle monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements
• Assist with periodic reporting
• Assisting with external and internal audits
• Monitoring of payment runs and appropriate preparation
• Analysis of costs and revenues
• Collaboration in setting and tracking financial KPI's
• Communication with the tax advisors of the individual companies
• Regular reporting on financial status, preparing ad hoc reports as needed
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date filing systems
• Ensure compliance with accounting and bookkeeping regulations
• Documenting, monitoring and updating accounting records as needed
• Assist with integration of new companies into group finance functions
• Assist with implementation of project controlling software

Who we are looking for

• Excellent knowledge of accounting regulations and practices
• Experience in analysis, budgeting and forecasting
• Experience in consolidated financial statements and consolidation
• Proficiency in MS Office (especially Excel) and financial software
• Analytical thinking with problem solving skills
• Excellent communication skills
• A good eye for detail and organizational skills
• Ability to work independently
• B.Sc./B.A. in accounting, finance or relevant field
• Professional experience as a controller or in a similar role
• Thorough knowledge of accounting principles, procedures and regulations
• Attention to detail
• Ability to work with short deadlines
