Associate Director Financial Risk Assurance & Transformation (m/f/d)

The Associate Director Financial Risk Assurance & Transformation (m/f/d) reports to the Country Finance Lead and is part of the local finance leadership team. The role covers a combination of responsibilities: enabling the transformation of the organization and keeping oversight of the control environment.

As Associate Director Transformation, she/he supports the organization in shaping the ‘the Finance Organization of the Future’, drives initiatives which enable this transformation and builds a network of stakeholders in this process. As member of the local finance leadership team the Transformation Specialist has strong interpersonal skills, displays a transformational mindset and lives a high standard of values like respect, transparency, openness and trust.

As Associate Director Risk Assurance, she/he is primarily responsible to drive an effective internal end-to-end control environment, in compliance with GAAP, SOX 404, corporate policies and statutory requirements (commercial / tax law) for all (Animal / Human Health) entities in the German market in close co-operation with corporate audit and the statutory audit company. All financial and other administrative processes and systems are standardized on a global level. There is a close co-operation with a Business Service Center (BSC) in Prague, Czech Republic and different Centers of Excellence in place. Audit activities and process/system modifications must be aligned with these partners.

Key responsibilities in the area of Transformation:

  • Align initiatives which enable the transformation into the ‘Finance Organization of the future’ and any local market initiatives with impact on the finance organization
  • Translate strategic initiatives or goals into action in close collaboration with the finance and business teams
  • Manage team initiatives by applying project management / agile methods
  • Act as role model for our company’s new ways of working (from silos to networks, from planning to experimentation, from withholding to sharing, from knowing to learning, from controlling to empowering)
  • Participate in and/or lead projects to drive continuous process improvements and efficiencies.

Key focus areas of Financial Risk Assurance:

  • Set the local control strategy derived from global standards from an enterprise risk perspective considering outsourced transactional activities and controls.
  • Support and monitor a strong control environment on all financial accounting / reporting and compliance matters and serve as subject matter expert on controls
  • Ensure controls are lean, effective (meeting corporate & local legal requirements) and understood by all key stakeholders
  • Participate in the planning and execution of financial, operational, SOX 404 and IT audits, integrated audits and process audits, to maintain a strong internal control environment at our Company
  • Develop and execute internal risk assessments and related self-testing process on SOX 404 and Compliance controls in coordination with BSC, and control and compliance group with focus on identified areas of risk
  • Partner with the Regional Risk Assurance Manager and Global Service Centers to ensure all controls are enforced and to build awareness on the importance of a strong internal control environment


  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Business Administration, Accounting or Finance
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience within finance or auditing related positions  
  • Experience in project management. Exposure to agile working methods preferred.
  • Business Level fluency 100% (oral and written) in English and German


  • Professional experience at an organization with operations across multiple countries
  • CPA or MBA preferred
  • Understanding of healthcare and reimbursement systems

  • Understanding of internal control and end to end process standardization
  • Working proficiency of US GAAP
  • Strong accounting and reporting skills
  • Strong ability to read, analyze, and interpret corporate financial statements
  • SAP
  • Advanced PC skills (MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint) required
