Our Onboarding team assists the Traders based in Europe with regard to recurring operational tasks and the handling of exceptions. The team ensures that the investment professionals are able to focus on their core tasks other than spending time on product-, process- or system related issues. Providing this service the team is also acting as an interface function between the Traders and several internal and external counterparts. This function has been proven very successful over the previous years and has recently become part of the Frankfurt trading department.

Currently, we are looking for a specialist to coordinate the full lifecycle of OTC and ETD derivatives such as adding new instruments, counterparties and funds, ensuring that the legal/regulatory and operational framework is in place prior to trading derivatives, and establishing transparency and accountability. The ideal candidate will have a good understanding of the financial industry and derivatives in particular with prior experience in operational processes and project management. Also required is the ability to get various internal and external counterparties on the same page to make derivatives available for investment in an efficient, reliable and timely manner. In his role the candidate will be representing Allianz Global Investors to the outside and will interact directly with counterparties. 

The position will be based in Frankfurt/Main, Germany.

Key Responsibilities

  • Reports to the European Head of Derivatives Trading
  • Works closely with the trading teams, legal, client account management and other internal stake holders to serve as a person to go to for any questions around fund onboarding for exchange traded and OTC derivatives
  • Delivers the required due diligence documents to brokers/counterparties
  • Acts as the external voice of the trading team and is the interface between traders/portfolio managers and brokers for any onboarding matters
  • Initiates and maintains give-up agreements in a cost-efficient way
  • Actively seeks new ways to streamline existing processes using new software tools
  • Monitors investment process refinements and amends documentation accordingly
  • Actively sets priorities on which counterparties and funds to onboard
  • Ability to build knowledge of derivatives instruments and legal documentation
  • Act as key contact person for investment professionals, Legal / Compliance, Operations and brokers on fund-&broker onboarding
  • Coordinate all legal, operational and risk aspects including follow-ups required for investing in OTC and exchange traded derivatives
  • Establishing and adjusting credit lines as well as collateral- and give up agreements
  • Take care of administrative tasks such as updating documentation and informing stake holders
  • Employ tool to enhance transparency concerning contractual and operational situation on fund/counterparty level
  • Stay abreast with industry, regulatory and operational framework

Key Requirements/Skills/Experience

  • University degree or equivalent qualification, ideally in business administration or business informatics
  • Fluent in German and English, French knowledge is an additional advantage
  • Professional in Microsoft Office (in particular Excel)
  • Knowledge in derivatives and associated documentation (ISDA, CSA, credit lines, Give Up Agreements etc.)
  • Ideally work experience in an operational or assistance position in the financial industry, preferably in an investment-related area and strong networking ability
  • Strong interest in capital markets and operational workflows
  • Proactive with internal and external clients and responsive to their needs
  • Excellent analytical, communicational and interpersonal skills
  • Self-motivated team player willing to work in a diverse and challenging environment
  • IT literate
  • CFA is a plus
