Our client is a New York City-based hedge fund advisor with multi-billion allocations to more than 100 managers worldwide. They provide investors access to a diversified portfolio of hedge fund managers through an innovative managed account structure designed to deliver stable returns with significantly less risk exposure than a traditional hedge fund. The position is based in Shanghai, whereas overseas candidates from Hong Kong, Singapore or the US are welcome if interested in relocation to Shanghai.

Position: Systems Engineer

Location: Shanghai, China

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support to our team and its managers including desktops, servers, phones, networks, and cloud systems troubleshooting
  • Proactive involvement in completing server/desktop maintenance, monitoring data backups, and creating/updating technical documentation
  • Maintain a high degree of ownership in all matters within the firm’s IT infrastructure
  • Coordinate with the New York team on all existing and new IT endeavors
  • Liaise with technology vendors to establish and enhance strategic relationships

Qualifications

  • 2-6 years of relevant experience in IT support and administration within the financial services sector
  • Degree in Computer Science or Information Technology is highly preferred
  • Technical expertise in IT related fields including system administration, network topology, internet technologies (DHCP, DNS, mail exchange, TCP/IP), scripting languages (PowerShell, Bash, Batch) and encrypted data transfer (encryption, FTP, SSH)
  • Familiarity with Office 365, Azure, AWS, and similar cloud platforms
  • Superior technical aptitude, superb detail orientation skills, project management experience and an outstanding work ethic are required
  • English and Mandarin written and verbal fluency with the ability to present complex technical information in a clear and concise manner to non-technical audiences
