This role will have responsibility for building IHS Markit’s financial markets products and services in China working alongside the existing sales and product team within China and across Asia-Pacific. A key responsibility is to deeply understand and analyze market structure, trading, pricing, risk management and valuations practices across various financial instruments to help define the China product and business strategy. Further responsibilities will be to monitor and guide regulatory developments, establish and maintain relationships with governmental and regulatory authorities in China, in particular with central bank, regulators across banking, securities, insurance and financial information.

Duties & accoutabilities:

  • A key part of the China leadership team at IHS Markit
  • Analyze China financial market structure and IHS Markit suite of products to help refine current China strategy and define future product and business strategy to increase penetration into the local market
  • Leverage extensive product, sales and technical experts within the IHS Markit organization to deliver product development/projects to meet client demand in China. Overall responsibility for the successful delivery of projects impacting Chinese market
  • Build and maintain relationship at the executive and senior management levels across regulator, banking and asset management community
  • Using valuations expertise to identify key trends within the market and the regulatory framework to identify potential opportunities to refine and develop IHS Markit products for the China clients

Business competencies:

  • Over 12 years work experience in financial industry or financial information industry or regulatory bodies
  • Extensive experience of the pricing, valuations, risk management or trading areas of the industry with strong quantitative and problem solving ability
  • Ability to demonstrate practical expertise in the valuations techniques used for pricing of debt/credit instruments and derivatives, ideally including fundamental credit assessment/illiquid debt instruments
  • Undergraduate or Master’s degree in a financial or quantitative discipline is essential
  • Extensive experience working in China, ideally with some international experience
  • Understanding of financial regulatory space especially under PBOC, CBRC and different associations and SOEs under them
  • Strong inter-personal and influencing skills
