Department Overview

The Wealth Business Architecture team is responsible for enabling the future of Wealth, by defining, owning and driving transformational change through:
  • Architectural discipline to defining target state for all Wealth business capabilities
  • Owning the business delivery of target state capabilities by closely collaborating with business, technology and shared services
  • Continuously driving a simplified and optimized Wealth Operating Model

Within Business Architecture, there are five Business Capability Pillars which include, (1) Wealth Digital Continuum and Sales & Client Engagement Model Enablement, (2) Wealth Business Transformation, (3) Portfolio Management & Fees, (4) Trading & Asset Servicing, and (5) Client & Regulatory Reporting.

Job Description

he Senior Business Architect leads the Order Management business capability within the Trading & Asset Servicing Business Architecture pillar. Responsible for the end-to-end lifecycle of the capability, including defining the target state & strategic roadmap, the business delivery of any technology and/or business process changes and the sustainment model, he or she will represent the interests of all the businesses within Wealth impacted by the life cycle. While the individual will spend most of their time on their specific capabilities, they will also be responsible for understanding and influencing business capabilities across Business Architecture.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to

Reporting to the AVP, Business Architecture, for the capabilities owned, the responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Define and lead the capability target state and the strategic roadmap ensuring they align with business strategic priorities and the broader Business Architecture vision
  • Identify and implement process improvements to reduce costs or build capacity
  • Provide thought leadership and direction by providing recommendations on how to best respond to industry and competitive drivers

  • Interact with users to understand their needs to effectively design human-centered solutions
  • Collaborate with partner groups to ensure alignment to evolving business needs and proactively identifying cross-business synergies
  • Handle vendor partners to ensure ongoing alignment to the capability\u2019s evolving needs
  • Be the point of contact for the Business and Technology Application Support on any relevant day-to-day issues

  • As the Senior Product Owner, clearly articulate and prioritize the product backlog to streamline delivery and ensure business outcomes are achieved
  • Dedicatedly anticipate and address delivery challenges by providing clear options and recommendations to drive the best possible outcomes
  • Build the business case and define the rollout plan in collaboration with partners
  • Provide leadership on change initiatives with business leads to amplify the adoption of solutions

Measure / Monitor
  • Clearly define and monitor capability success metrics around overall effectiveness for capabilities assigned
  • Actively seek feedback from users and partner groups

  • Provide leadership and mentorship to the Business Analyst(s) that ensures the definition of quality business requirements/user stories
  • Provide coaching, mentoring and learning opportunities for assigned analysts to contribute to their personal development
  • Support a positive work environment that promotes service to the business, quality, innovation and teamwork, and ensure timely communication of issues/points of interest


Qualifications / Skills / Experiences
  • Creative thinker that can conceptualize ideas that align to strategic vision
  • Strong product owner abilities that can effectively lead the full life cycle of a product/capability always representing the user experience and business point-of-view
  • Strong business background and sound experience in the Wealth industry, in particular with Order Management and related capabilities such as Market Data & Research, Trade Execution, etc.
  • Demonstrated experience in delivering with excellence (e.g. driving business requirements, coordinating partner activities, establishing and adhering to budgets and timelines)
  • Experience with effectively planning a portfolio of initiatives with a clear articulation of cost/benefits
  • A highly organized, detail oriented, ambitious and resourceful teammate with high energy and the ability to work independently in an ever-changing environment
  • Leadership skills with the ability to impact and influence individuals and teams across Wealth
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal in addition to polished presentation skills
  • Confirmed ability to effectively communicate complex issues and articulate options, proactively provide and facilitate actionable solutions and offer opinions
  • A proven leader with the ability to passionately motivate and develop talent within the team

Special Education Requirements / Accreditations
  • Undergraduate degree
  • Canadian Securities Course /Options Licensing Course an asset
  • Experience in Wealth Management related to Order Management & Trading
  • Experience with Agile delivery an asset (specifically acting as a Product Owner)
  • Financial Services Industry designations considered an asset
  • Business Architecture experience an asset
