What is the opportunity?

In this role, you will lead the analysis, design and implementation of data science solutions to questions pertaining to the workforce, using RBC's enterprise suite of analytics tools. Data Science allows us to better understand the implications of what information means, identify trends, anticipate future behaviors, perform pattern matching, and predict the outcomes of future events. The People Analytics team specializes in taking full advantage of our workforce data and related datasets such as voice to text, listening data and non-traditional employee inputs to explore and discover new insights that would have not been possible with traditional analytics. Leveraging leading edge technologies and capabilities, the group applies machine learning and statistical modelling techniques to help RBC understand the changing workforce discover new growth opportunities and determine where business improvements can be made. The group is equipped with capabilities in text analytics/Natural Language Processing, Big Data advanced analytics and Machine Learning.

What will you do?

Data scientists analyze data using statistical, machine learning, and analytics techniques to solve complex problems, discover insights and identify business opportunities.

Statistics & Machine Learning:Autonomously direct data science initiatives to uncover business value using statistical, machine learning and analytics techniques.

Technology:Prepare and integrate large and varied datasets and implement statistical and machine learning models using Python and R. Deploy production-scale solutions using the Hadoop Ecosystem, transforming statistical and machine learning models from single node architecture to parallel processing grid technology. Create software packages that can be reused inside the enterprise.

Domain Knowledge:Use deep business domain knowledge to independently lead the analytics process to identify valuable and innovative insights.

What do you need to succeed?

Must-Have
  • Masters or PHD in Mathematics, Statistics or Computer Science
  • 10+ years of experience with big data technologies, Machine Learning, Data Mining, Statistics
  • 5+ years managing data scientists
  • Experience with big data technologies - Hadoop (Pig, Hive), NoSQL/SQL databases, parallel processing techniques and Apache Spark
  • Familiar with a range of statistical modeling tools such as SPSS, SAS, DataIku, Statistica
  • Strong data profiling, cleaning, and mining capability and expert working knowledge of Python, R, Java and SQL
  • Ability to perform complex HR data analysis on large volumes of data and present findings to stakeholders.
  • Strong knowledge of design, development, and implementation experience utilizing data science technologies
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
  • Experience designing recommendation engines (AI) for broad deployment
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal); ability to communicate with people in a wide variety of areas and at various levels from technical specialists to executives.
