Analyst, Private Equity Strategy and Portfolio Management* (Ref.:18-126)

Reporting to the Senior Director, Private Equity Strategy and Portfolio Management, the incumbent will contribute to achieving business objectives related to the portfolio outside of Québec and the team’s objectives by actively contributing to the development and tracking of the private equity investment strategy by building, developing and/or coordinating the portfolio analysis and private equity activities. This will be made possible by monitoring and understanding the market environment and by fostering effective collaboration and team work.

 

Main responsibilities

  • Actively contribute to the yearly strategic planning of investments and underlying analysis of the Private Equity portfolio.
  • Further develop and contribute to analyses and tracking of the portfolio progress, its composition and the risk-return balance within the framework of a defined strategy in collaboration with the Operations team.
  • Contribute to the development of the responsible investment strategy, particularly when it comes to integrating ESG into the investment and tracking processes, including the carbon footprint.
  • Based on established timelines, carry out exhaustive analyses (quantitative and qualitative) and prepare presentation documents.
  • Actively contribute to various cross-sector projects (currency exposure, risk assessment, return forecast, etc.).
  • Carry out applied analysis and research on private equity.
  • Monitor and track academic and professional studies as well as pertinent databases (Preqin, State Street, etc.).
  • Monitor the market environment and value-added analyses on the reality and trends shaping the private equity and credit markets on both a macro and a more specific level (various professions/sectors).
  • Provide support for the Senior Director by coordinating the work of various project collaborators and monitoring and coaching supervised projects (interns).

 

Requirements

  • Approximately five (5) years of experience in the investment industry;
  • Graduate degree in finance, economics or a related discipline;
  • CFA designation is an asset;
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be taken into consideration;
  • Excellent research, analytical and summarizing skills;
  • Proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint and skilled with tools used in the financial markets (Bloomberg, Capital IQ, etc.);
  • Excellent command of French and English (spoken and written);
