Reporting to the Principal Underwriter you will be responsible for managing your own portfolio of financial planners/advisers and provide exceptional and proactive service to your stakeholders, financial planners and distribution partners. You will continually look for ways to enhance our business and in demonstrating your strong Risk Management skills will find sustainable underwriting solutions for our customers.

You will:

  • Assess all risk business within delegated authority levels
  • Act as a referral point and provide technical support, and over authority sign offs in order to assist junior underwriters and with complex underwriting scenarios
  • Provide explanations for decisions to advisers and customers regarding underwriting decisions/guidelines
  • Liaise with re-insurers, other staff, legal and medical professionals to obtain further opinion in relation to complex medical, legal or financial issues
  • Work closely with our Distribution partners across all channels, in order to educate and promote our underwriting and new business proposition and sustainably grow our new business revenue
  • Deliver a customer centric service for all our Stakeholders
  • Work closely with our distribution partners and be actively involved in preparing for and presenting in Professional Development (PD) presentations and workshops where required

Working with your team, the broader underwriting team and our Business Partners you will ensure that the Underwriting Philosophy, LC+ and underwriting processes are controlled and monitored to ensure we have a balanced pragmatic approach to satisfying customer needs whilst protecting the profitability of our business.

You will need:

  • 5+ years relevant underwriting experience
  • Membership of Professional Industry body/bodies (desirable)
  • Extensive experience in the finance industry across regulatory, legislative and technical issues
  • Relevant industry qualifications (desirable)
  • Tertiary qualifications in a business related discipline (desirable)
  • Coaching and mentoring experience
  • Proven experience in leading a team to deliver results
