Global Risk is a thriving and expert risk management function supporting HSBC globally with all aspects of risk management. The team actively manages a varied and dynamic range of risk types. All parts of the Global Risk team use their skills, insight and integrity to handle established threats and those they see emerging, acting to protect and enable HSBC to deliver sustainable growth. The Enterprise Risk team (ERT) in Australia is responsible for risk appetite and governance, transformation, risk stewardship and business management activities.
We have an opportunity for an experienced Senior Manager in Enterprise Risk to join the team, working closely with the Head of ERT. In taking on this role, your primary focus will be to provide risk stewardship on the risk classes under the Chief Risk Officer's (CRO) accountability, specifically Climate and Reputational Risk as well as support the bank's Modern Slavery Statement and activities.
You will also drive and be responsible for the execution of Governance requirements in Australia as it relates to the Risk Management Meeting (RMM) and Board Risk Committee including all Enterprise Risk Reports; and provide oversight over key Risk Management Framework and CPS220 Risk Management deliverables on top of driving the Risk Culture agenda.
This enterprise focused critical role will provide you with exposure to and involvement across a broad range of risk disciplines and bank-wide outcomes, with the opportunity to directly interact with regional stakeholders and senior local stakeholders on a regular basis.
You will be someone who thrives in a busy, complex environment, approaching work with positivity and genuine curiosity to effectively problem solve and provide practical support and solutions to the function.
Your main responsibilities will include:
  • Supporting the CRO with execution of risk stewardship activities as it relates to Reputational Risk, Climate Risk and Modern Slavery.
  • Managing the Enterprise Risk Reports for the entity including compilation of the Risk Profile Paper.
  • Managing the production and delivery of the RMM pack including RMM Secretariat and review and challenge of Risk Committee papers across the function.
  • Driving Risk Culture agenda for the entity together with Human Resources.
  • Overseeing and supporting CPS220 deliverables.
  • Continuing to build risk management awareness through delivery of Risk Management Framework education sessions across the first and second line as needed.
  • Driving and supporting regulatory change requirements and programs as required.
  • Where and when possible, deputise for the Head of ERT as required.

To be successful in this role, you will need:
  • Previous experience with risk strategy, risk governance and enterprise risk management frameworks is preferred.
  • Solid understanding of financial risks as well as non-financial risks.
  • Solid understanding of the requirements of APRA CPS220 Risk Management Prudential Standard.
  • Proven experience working across all levels of a complex organisation to understand cross-functional linkages and interdependencies, business requirements and the implications of risk at both a strategic level and at the customer group level.
  • Demonstrated ability to assess risk trends, both internally and externally and determine risk based solutions.
  • Ability to develop and embed practical initiatives that improve the integration of risk management in day to day business across all levels of the organisation.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, providing the ability to form effective relationships and achieve influence at the senior levels in the organisation.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the capacity to clearly articulate the case for risk strategy/management.
  • Proven ability to prioritise competing demands.
  • A tertiary qualification in a relevant field is an advantage, but not essential.
