Operational Risk Associate Director - Finance
In this role you will oversee Macquarie's Financial Management Group, providing thought leadership, practical advice and education on operational risk management whilst reviewing and approving new business initiatives, ensuring that key operational risks are identified and managed and that appropriate stakeholders are engaged in the approval process.
You will assess the business risk profile and key processes and, where appropriate, act as a catalyst for change. The role will give you the opportunity to ensure that risk and control self-assessments reflect the risk profile of the businesses, are current and comprehensive whilst analysing incidents across the business, ensuring swift resolution, capturing lessons learnt and sharing them with other businesses.
You will analyse and follow up on existing and emerging operational issues, including targeted projects or reviews and take responsibility for the development of extreme loss event scenarios, including engagement with business experts used in the calculation of Operational Risk Capital. You will also get the opportunity to respond to requests from various stakeholders including regulators, auditors and Macquarie senior management gaining excellent exposure to the business.
You bring with you strong experience in Operational Risk, Internal or External Audit gained ideally within an international financial institution or professional services firm and a tertiary degree in Finance or related area. Relevant postgraduate degrees or professional qualifications (CA, CPA) would be desirable.
You will be an analytical and lateral thinker with problem solving, consulting skills and an ability to grasp abstract concepts and complex situations. In addition, you will feel comfortable and competent interpreting and balancing commercial issues within the risk framework whilst being able to demonstrate working knowledge of the regulatory environment in which Macquarie operates in. The role will allow you to display your strong communication and interpersonal skills to build strong relationships with Senior Management and gain buy-in, trust and understanding in your stakeholders.
