The Commonwealth Bank's Specialised Industries and Commercial Risk is creating a revolution in banking for the organisations that form the social fabric of our communities. These organisations are unique and require a unique approach to marketing and offer development.

The team reports into Commercial Banking (CB) and is part of the wider Business Banking division of the Commonwealth Bank.

The Healthcare banking team has been established to grow market share and further extend the Banks' reputation within the community. The team is responsible for developing and delivering the customer proposition across the Business Banking network.

Do Work That Matters

The purpose of the National Director Healthcare role is to work with the team in building a 'market leading' Healthcare customer offering and market positioning as well as concurrently driving business outcomes. The role will be specifically focused, on continuing to build out our Medical Specialist offering. This role is wide in breadth and requires an experienced banking professional with outstanding judgment and perception to handle at time uncertainty and acumen to drive the business forward with clarity and purpose.

The role is both strategic and tactical in nature driving change for the long term and establishing quick wins and success along the way. This role will be high in profile and will have responsibility for both internal stakeholder engagement/influence and external customer & partnership relations.

This role is a national role focusing in on leading strategic initiatives across Business Banking. The successful applicant will need to have a passion for deepening CBA's relationship with the Medical Specialist Sectors.

More specifically, you will:
  • Lead strategic initiatives working closely with Product partners by representing client's views and needs
  • Focus on supporting the banker network with business development opportunities, including input on strategic transactions to incorporate key industry fundamentals, structuring guidance, feedback and recommendations, stakeholder management and other business development activities as required
  • Build upon a strong partnership with Risk, including a deep understanding of the credit process with a focus to work collaboratively on key risk themes including regular reporting requirements for both portfolio monitoring purposes and contribution to risk initiatives from an industry perspective
  • Lead team members to update and maintain industry and peer benchmarking comparisons across the various health segments from both a transactional & client perspective including CBA's comparative offering in the healthcare segment.
  • Support the Healthcare team develop market leading strategies as the business focus evolves into new areas of specialisation
  • Lead team members to provide analysis in regards to key trends in the industry and portfolio which supports CBA delivering a market leading Healthcare strategy to the market.
  • Build strong external relationships with key industry stakeholders, such as Industry bodies, Valuers, referral partners etc.

  • Extensive experience and knowledge of financial services industry healthcare industry and business market
  • Extensive knowledge of transactional products and financial services products and services
  • A desire to further your experience in sales prospecting and building external partnerships
  • Sound Risk Management acumen
  • Strong Oral and written communication skills
  • Strong Project Management Skills
