DWS is seeking an experienced Microsoft Purview Engineer to join a major enterprise data migration project within a large-scale finance systems transformation.
You will play the key role in establishing and enforcing enterprise data governance frameworks using Microsoft Purview for a new Fabric instance. This role will suit someone who thrives in complex environments, is highly technical, and is passionate about data quality, compliance, and secure data enablement at scale.

Salary: up to $190K (inc super) depending on experience

Essential Skills and Experience:

• Expert level skills with Microsoft Purview and data governance within Microsoft Fabric
• Data Platforms: Proficiency in Azure Data Lake Storage, Azure SQL, and integrating disparate multi-cloud data sources.
• Security Posture: Understanding of OneLake Security, Insider Risk Management, and AI-related risk mitigation.
• Frameworks: Familiarity with modern frameworks (e.g., DAMA-DMBOK, NIST Cybersecurity / AI Risk Management Frameworks).
• Business Acumen: Ability to translate compliance and regulatory requirements (e.g., GDPR, CCPA) into actionable technical policies.
• Communication: Capacity to bridge the gap between IT, cybersecurity, and line-of-business stakeholders to foster a responsible, data-driven culture.
• Data Curation & Lineage: Implement and manage the Microsoft Purview Data Map to unify metadata, trace end-to-end lineage, and build a discoverable Unified Catalog for all Microsoft Fabric assets.
• Security & Compliance Enforcements: Apply Information Protection policies to label Fabric items and automate Data Loss Prevention (DLP) on structured OneLake data to prevent oversharing.
• Governance Domains: Define and oversee governance domains, assign data stewards, and empower data domain owners to treat data as a secure enterprise product.
• Data Quality Management: Configure data quality rules, browse quality insights, and establish thresholds to maintain high data confidence for analytics and AI.
• Lifecycle Policies: Develop and enforce structured strategies for data retention, archival, and lifecycle management for both structured and unstructured datasets.
