APRA is seeking an experienced industry analyst to join its General Insurance Strategic Intelligence team within the Data Analytics unit of the Risk and Data Analytics Division. General Insurance Strategic Intelligence supports APRA’s core functions through the provision of forward-looking analytics and other business intelligence, driving risk-based supervisory judgements and strategic decisions.

As part of the team you will gain a unique perspective of the general insurance industry as you apply your skill and experience to produce industry data. Building on the data, you will provide high-quality industry insights and advice to APRA’s senior executive, general insurance supervisors, risk specialists and other Government agencies. You will collaborate with a wide range of APRA staff and with industry stakeholders, and have an opportunity to contribute to significant projects that will impact the general insurance industry.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in an analytical area such as finance, economics, actuarial studies or mathematics. Experience working in general insurance will be highly favoured. You will have excellent problem solving ability along with strong written and verbal communication. Excellent organisational skills, a history of working in high performing teams, and advanced data analytical skills (using tools such as Excel, SAS or Power BI etc) will also be highly regarded.
