Fund Administration Australia is part of Global Accounting & Product Services. The team leads the accounting and operating control environment for BlackRock's global commingled vehicles and provides various other administrative support functions for the various product ranges. Responsibilities include oversight of the fund-level "structural" needs of the relevant fund ranges, engaging with teams that build and support our products, ongoing oversight and delivery of the accounting infrastructure/processes (including NAV, audit & financial statement processes), oversight of external providers and fiduciary oversight to our funds.
The team is responsible for the overall control environment in respect of APAC domiciled products and handles the numerous business affairs in support of our funds. We connect across GAAPS, Business Operations and the organization to facilitate robust and effective change within our fund range. This includes ongoing proactive engagement and oversight of our service providers to ensure effective partnership & relationships. Our highly collaborative team engages with peers across the region and globe to deliver to our clients. Role Responsibility
Accounting Service Providers - accountable for the day to day oversight relationship with BlackRock's service providers in Australia. Ensure the service providers are meeting service level agreements and expectations.
Valuations - ownership of the fund asset valuation oversight process and provide insight to mitigate risks.
Fund Distributions - management of the distribution oversight process. Partner with the product tax team to ensure compliance with ATO requirements.
Audit - coordination of the end to end audit and financial statement process from audit engagement, to planning, due diligence, reviews and lodgement with the regulators.
Leadership - provide leadership to the local team in Sydney as well as actively contribute to the regional team from a technical and functional perspective.
Compliance - ensure compliance with all relevant BlackRock policies and regulatory requirements across the product range. Ensure the team approach is consistent with the global framework for control, oversight and management of vendors.
Change management - critically evaluate procedures and processes and identify areas of improvement in terms of efficiency or risk management. Provide input and drive improvements.
Lifecycle Events, Restructures & On-Boarding - work with local and global partners to plan and execute fund lifecycle events and fund enhancements.
Industry knowledge - provide an authoritative source of business, industry and technical accounting expertise on functional and process requirements.
Partner with other BlackRock business areas to implement the objectives of the local business and improve overall policies and procedures. Qualifications
Experience & Key Competencies
Bachelors degree in accounting or finance
Advanced degree and/or CPA/CA/CFA desirable
8+ years post-qualification experience in the financial services industry.
Prior experience with fund valuations, the associated transaction lifecycle and key control frameworks.
Knowledge of investment processes and controls across various investment product structures. Can easily navigate through the technical and regulatory issues affecting the investment industry.
Experience in distribution/taxation of pooled investment schemes.
Experience in planning and executing an Australian annual audit.
Use technology and automation to minimise risk and improve scale.
Achieve results through discipline, client service mentality, building partnerships and demonstrating sound judgment and decisiveness. Has a desire to consistently raise performance standards.
Prioritization skills and ability to meet differing requirements from multiple internal and external clients.
Ability to motivate self and others through times of change.
