The Country Risk Lead will be responsible for deploying the company’s risk management approach in Australia and across the Pacific. The incumbent will ensure the completion of internal risk assessments, promoting creative solutions for how the company can effectively manage and mitigate identified risks in the region. The jobholder will be responsible for the design and roll out of all risk management policies for the Australian entity, drafting new policies, reviewing and updating existing policies, and ensuring policies are maintained on an ongoing basis according to local regulations and company wide standards. The Country Risk Lead will embed a solid risk culture in the business in Australia and across the Pacific, promoting risk awareness and will take part in the relationship with regulators and senior management to communicate the risk position and risk management approach as well as acting as a liaison between other internal control teams and external parties for the purpose of audits and monitoring engagements.
The successful candidate will have gained at least 5 years’ experience in a senior level risk management position working in an international setting. Candidates will need to have experience in operational, compliance and strategic risks as well as intersecting risks, those with additional experience of counterparty credit, liquidity and market risks are preferred. Applicants will need to have good understanding of risk systems, management information and reporting systems and have the ability to represent the company in a professional manner to all internal (e.g. senior management) and external (e.g. regulatory authorities) stakeholders. You will need a demonstrated track record of second line of defence independence and challenge/escalation, an understanding of risks and regulations in Australia and how to translate these into risk management practices and the ability to operate in a fast-paced environment.
