Is a Top-Tier International Investment Bank head-quartered in Sydney. The bank has recently embarked on a large scale, bank-wide (5 year) Digital Transformation Initiative.
The four mail pillars of the transformation are:
Simplification = Consolidating similar systems that do the same thing
Automation = eradicating needless manual processes wherever possible
Digitisation = modernising all of their client facing front ends (new responsive technologies)
Data = utilising big data tools for more efficient and effect reporting & analytics
The Trading & Risk Technology Team sit within the Currencies, Debt Markets and Commodities business areas and are responsible for the delivery of solutions used to Price, Trade and calculate Credit, Market, Counterparty, Regulatory and VAR risk.
The program of work will be broken down into two main initiatives. One area will focus on re-writing peripheral components of the system in new Java, Microservices, Cloud-based architecture, whereas the core Engines (for speed and performance purposes) will be re-architected using modern C++ tools & techniques.
As the Project Lead, you will be heavily involved in the decision-making around which components will be re-written in Java and which will be modernised using C++ technologies.
You will then lead the end to end solution delivery of the C++ applications. With a strong engineering background, you will be comfortable setting strategy, managing the team to hit delivery milestones and owning stakeholder relationships across business and technology.
There are over 2million lines of code! You will own the C++ code base. Simplification will be this person's mantra. 'What can I get rid of' will be the continual question when it comes to re-designing the system. "How can we make it simple, effective and efficient".
As well as re-designing components, someone who has a strong understanding of Performance Optimisation would be preferred. Fiercely-held design principles are required as are strong technical leadership skills - this person will have a fluid number of 'dotted-line reports' depending on the project being tackled, so the ability to quickly garner respect from new team members is paramount.
We are looking for a passionate technologist, someone not happy with the status quo, who can shake things up. Someone with their finger on the pulse with regards to new and emerging technologies and ways of working, but is pragmatic enough to understand how they can (and sometimes cant) be implemented in a highly secure and robust environment.
The role is currently a remote position, however, there will be a requirement for office-based work moving into the future. As such, full Australian working rights are required as is the ability to attend the Sydney CBD office in 3-6 months.
