Department Summary:
 
This function is responsible for ensuring there is a strong control environment in place to ensure all activities that can influence the reported Market Risk exposures are monitored, controlled and reported appropriately.  As part of the Corporate Investment Bank team, this function aims to be the primary point of contact between the Market Risk Management, Valuation Control Groups, Product Control and the Business for all risk and P&L related issues.
 
Role Summary:
 
Integral aspects of the role include: investigation of anomalies in traded risk exposures by interaction with multiple front office, middle office and technology departments; data analysis; reporting to senior management; new product analysis; on-going process review and development; and ad-hoc project work. This function is also involved in coordinating and drafting the business reporting requirements and helps drive the delivery of these requirements with the relevant IT teams.
 
The team also covers P&L reporting for the local Equities desk. This involved daily & monthly P&L reporting requirements for the derivatives trading desks and closely working with the larger Product Controller group in Hong Kong.
 
There is potential for an individual with limited Risk Management experience to pursue this role if they are highly motivated to learn and develop their skills. Skills and Experience Required:

  •  Analytical, problem solving mindset with a high attention to detail.


  • Initiative, timeliness, able to work autonomously.


  • Comfortable communicating with multiple groups, from traders to IT teams.


  • Excellent knowledge of financial markets products combined with experience involving the analysis of traded risk exposures.


  • Experience in a product controller capacity is highly desirable although not essential. There is potential for an individual with limited Risk Management experience to pursue this role if they are highly motivated to learn and develop their skills. Equity Derivatives product knowledge.


  • Intermediate MS Access, Excel skills and basic VBA Programming is highly desirable.
