Assistant Accountant

Your new company
This global energy provider with offices in Europe, South America and Australia, are experiencing a fantastic period of growth, with new projects pipelined over the next few years. The Sydney finance department are seeking a switched-on Accountant to join their small team until December 2021, with potential for further extension due to the influx of project work.

Your new role
The team of 5 work across Sydney and Brisbane, with a focus on collaboration and teamwork. This role will report to the Head of Finance and will be responsible for overseeing the daily duties of 2 junior team members. The role requires someone who can start immediately and can hit the ground running in this fast-paced, dynamic, and varied role. The responsibilities will be as follows:
  • Driving month end processes, including reporting and analysis
  • Processing of AP and AR, including handling queries and overseeing the duties of the junior team members
  • Assisting with budget preparation and forecasting
  • Managing cashflow requirements
  • Bank and balance sheet reconciliations
  • Posting journals
  • Liaising with audit and tax advisors
  • Managing internal and external stakeholders
What you'll need to succeed
The role requires a highly experienced Assistant Accountant with at least 4 years in a similar role. You will come from a background in a fast-paced and varied environment where you have broad oversight of transactional accounting through to financial and management reporting. Having excellent communication skills and time-management skills will be imperative to your success in this highly diverse environment, where you will be dealing with stakeholders and international teams. You will have a strong technical background, with confidence using large ERP systems and advanced Excel skills. You should possess the ability to delegate tasks and provide support and mentoring. Experience in the energy sector would be an advantage.

What you'll get in return
The role is paying the annual salary equivalent of $70-80k + superannuation, where you will accrue annual leave, and they are offering a 7 month fixed-term contract with strong chance of further extension, potentially even permanency. You will have the flexibility to work from home for 2-3 days per week and will enjoy a varied and rewarding role in this small but dynamic team.
