The AML Manager, Institutional Bank Australia is responsible for ensuring that all Citi's Institutional Bank business areas in Australia effectively and efficiently meet their Anti Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorism Financing (including Sanctions) ("AML/CTF") regulatory and policy obligations. This is to be achieved through close and ongoing liaison with regional AML compliance and in-country Institutional bank businesses to advise on all aspects of the AML/CTF and sanctions functions.

Your key accountabilities include but are not limited to:
  • Providing AML/CTF and Sanctions advice to Citi's Australian Institutional Bank businesses (Corporate Banking, Commercial Cards, Trade, Markets, Security Funds Services and support functions) on AML compliance risks, including:
    • Regulatory AML/CTF and Sanctions changes
    • Changes to Citi's Group or Regional AML/CTF and Sanctions internal policies
    • New products and services
    • New customer segments or markets where business is, or may be - conducted
    • Issues and processes relating to regulatory examinations
    • Significant changes to operations and technology that impact customer transactions
    • Significant changes in industry practices
    • Communications with clients (e.g. transaction discussions, disclosure materials)
    • Mergers and acquisitions, or divestitures
  • Disseminating AML/CTF and sanctions regulatory and policy requirements to all staff through training and other means, ensuring that changes in law, regulations and policy are effectively communicated
  • Contributing to the maintenance of the Australian AML/CTF and Sanctions Program Manuals and AML Compliance departmental procedure manuals
  • Provide support to the AML Compliance team members who have direct oversight responsibilities for the AML Transaction Monitoring functions and Sanctions processes
  • Championing corrective actions for any AML/CTF or Sanctions related breakages or process issues
  • Monitoring and conducting testing on the Institutional bank's self-testing and assurance function


To be successful in this position you must have the following skills and experience:
  • Tertiary qualification- preferably law, commerce, business/accounting. Additional professional qualifications desirable
  • Minimum five years AML/CTF experience
  • Minimum of three years in a risk or compliance role with strong practical experience within a banking environment
  • Deep understanding of Australian AML/CTF laws, rules and regulations including sanctions regimes. Understanding of Patriot Act
  • Proven writing ability
  • Strong analytical skills
  • PC Skills - Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Visio
  • Language - Strong written and verbal skills

  • Personal drive to achieve required outcomes within specified timeframes
  • Actively participate and work as part of a team
