This role will lead the Institutional Operational Risk team for Markets. This role will foster strong working relationships with Senior Business (e.g. COO Markets, Head of Governance, Markets), Risk and Internal Audit partners, provide insight and advice to business teams in relation to operational risk and perform effective review and challenge oversight of the Markets business.
The Senior Manager, Operational Risk, Markets will ensure the global businesses within their portfolio are adequately covered to enable proactive risk management and strengthen risk maturity levels through review and challenge and advice. The Senior Manager, Operational Risk, Markets will attend relevant business risk and governance forums, steering committee meetings to provide a clear opinion on the adequacy and maturity of operational risk management, and strategic insights and advice relating to operational risk. The role requires strong skills in influencing outcomes with senior business stakeholders. This role will be required to provide strong leadership within the Institutional OR&C team including taking accountability for delivery of some of the team’s strategic priority areas. This role will be required to collaborate effectively division wide including with their team peers, key business stakeholders (including assurance teams), enterprise risk teams, Internal Audit and other areas/functions as required.
This role will also have responsibility for the management of the Operational Risk (Markets business) team, including line management, staff development and contribution to the culture of both their direct team and the broader Institutional OR&C team. About You
To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:
- Tertiary qualified, experience in Operational risk and/or Compliance or related disciplines
- Organisational knowledge and strong technical and/or industry networks (internal and external)
- Ability to build and maintain relationships and successfully influence/negotiate change with senior business stakeholders
- Strong leadership experience with the ability to develop a highly engaged and motivated team
- Very strong verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrates New Ways of Leading (NWOL) attributes, including: Curiosity, Creating Shared Clarity, Empowering People, Connecting with Empathy and Growing People Selflessly.
