Defence is seeking experienced and innovative leaders to deliver and drive financial stewardship within Defence Finance Group. An Executive Level 1 Assistant Director within Defence will build Organisational capability and deliver outcomes in alignment with Defence’s strategic objectives. Defence Finance Group is looking to fill multiple vacancies and will develop a merit pool for anticipated vacancies across a range of financial functions.

EL1 Assistant Director, Defence Finance Group

As an Assistant Director within Defence Finance Group you will be presented with a unique and exciting opportunity that plays a key role in supporting the Department of Defence in providing a the full range of financial advice, support , policies, services and systems to the Defence Portfolio.

DFG consists of two Divisions, Financial Performance and Management (FP&M) Division and Budgets and Financial Services (B&FS) Division. FP&M Division provides embedded finance staff across the country working closely with Defence Groups and Services to deliver management accounting, advice and support. B&FS Division delivers the full range of central financial functions including Commonwealth and internal budgeting, statutory financial requirements, financial systems, operations and policies.

These positions are pivitol in supporting the largest finance function in the Commonwealth. Defence Finance Group can offer a significant depth of career opportunities for finance professionals, accountants, financial systems experts or financial policy specialists.

Candidates who are experienced, capable and qualified financial accountants with extensive experience undertaking financial activities and functions will have a distinct advantage.

Engagement may be negotiated on an ongoing basis or for a specified term. To be eligible for engagement, an applicant must be, or intend to become, a permanent Australian citizen. This is a security-designated position. The successful applicant will be required to undergo security assessments to the appropriate level.

A merit pool of highly suitable candidates will be established to fill similar vacancies that may occur within the next twelve months.
