Excellent opportunity to join a well-established organisation where you'll take ownership of payroll operations across a large and diverse workforce. While you'll provide leadership and oversight to the team, this is not a purely strategic role. You'll remain actively involved in payroll processing, complex payroll matters, reconciliations, compliance, reporting, and system improvements.
Working closely with HR, Finance, and operational stakeholders, you'll play a key role in ensuring payroll is delivered accurately, compliantly, and on time.
Your new role
Managing the end-to-end payroll function across multiple employee groups
- Supporting and mentoring the payroll team while remaining involved in day-to-day operations
- Processing and reviewing payroll transactions, employee movements, terminations, and complex payroll matters
- Managing payroll reconciliations including PAYG, superannuation, deductions, and general ledger accounts
- Ensuring compliance with awards, enterprise agreements, taxation, payroll tax, and superannuation requirements
- Preparing payroll reporting and supporting audit activities
- Maintaining payroll controls, procedures, and governance frameworks
- Liaising with HR, Finance, external providers, and key stakeholders across the business
- Identifying opportunities to improve payroll processes, systems, and reporting capability
We're looking for someone who enjoys balancing leadership with hands-on payroll delivery.You will bring:
- Proven experience in a Payroll Manager, Senior Payroll Officer, Payroll Team Leader, or similar role
- Strong working knowledge of Australian payroll legislation and compliance requirements
- Experience managing complex payroll environments with multiple awards and employee groups
- Strong reconciliation and reporting skills
- Payroll systems experience, ideally SAP or similar enterprise platforms
- A practical, solutions-focused approach with excellent attention to detail
- The ability to build strong relationships and confidently manage payroll queries from a range of stakeholders
